Biostimin – action, indications for use, dosage

Biostimin is a popular herbal medicinal preparation in the form of an oral fluid enclosed in disposable ampoules. It is an over-the-counter medicine that is used to strengthen the body and improve the efficiency of the immune system. Importantly, Biostimin can be taken by both adults and children over 5 years of age. Check what is worth knowing about this preparation.

Biostimine – composition and action

Biostymine is produced by the Polish company Phytopharm Klęka SA a medicinal preparation in the form of an oral fluid enclosed in 1 ml ampoules. What’s in it? The active substance of Biostimin is pure liquid extract from fresh leaves of tree aloe (Aloe arborescens foil recentis extractum fluidum), dissolved in the simplest possible extraction solvent – i.e. water – in a ratio of 1: 4.

What is important, Biostimin does not contain any additional excipients. Therefore, it does not contain preservatives, dyes, sugars and sweeteners, alcohol, gluten, lactose or other substances often used in the pharmaceutical industry. Biostimine is a natural preparation that fully retains its healing properties and stability without such additives.

How does Biostimin work? This gentle drug uses the beneficial effects of aloe on our body. Aloe arborescens (Aloe arborescens) is one of over 360 species of aloe vera found naturally in dry countries. It is also grown on a fairly large scale in the countries of the Mediterranean basin, in Crimea, as well as in North America.

Extract of fresh leaves of tree aloe is obtained from the harvest in the only controlled plantation of this plant in Poland? It is a greenhouse plantation run by the PhytoPharm Klęka herbal plant near Poznań. The medicinal raw material, i.e. aloe leaves, is obtained from 3-year-old plants – after the first flowering.

Aqueous extract of tree aloe for many years it has been used in medicine and cosmetics – it contains a number of ingredients essential for our functioning, such as:

  1. polycharyody;
  2. glycoproteins (S-1, P-2 pectins);
  3. free amino acids like lysine, valine, phenylalanine, tyronine, methionine, arginine, glycine, proline, histidicine, leucine, aspartic acid, tryptophan, tyrosine, cysteine;
  4. a number of minerals, such as calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, lithium, phosphorus, sulfur, chromium, molybdenum;
  5. essential enzymes such as amylase, lipase, bradykinase, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, phosphokinase;
  6. organic acids: succinic, malic, citric, cinnamic, tartaric, malonic.

Numerous studies have shown that it is due to its composition Aqueous Aloe Vera Extract supports and stimulates the immune system in various ways, contributing, inter alia, to down:

  1. stimulation of granulopoiesis;
  2. supporting the ability to recognize the antigen and the phagocytosis process;
  3. stimulation of B lymphocytes to produce antibodies;
  4. stimulation of the course of lymphocyte mitosis.

Moreover, it was also confirmed strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties this substance. However, it is worth remembering that the drug Biostimin will not be effective in acute and short-term use. A longer treatment is needed to observe the beneficial effects of the aloe vera extract.

Biostimin for children and adults – when is it worth using?

Biostymina, based on the water extract of tree aloe vera, can be used in both adults and children over 5 years of age. In what cases is it recommended to take this preparation? According to doctors and pharmacists, Biostimin helps when:

  1. we grapple with upper respiratory tract infections of viral or bacterial origin;
  2. they harass us recurrent infections of the upper respiratory tract;
  3. we have other, diagnosed by a specialist states of reduced immunity;
  4. our body is weakened after infection and antibiotic therapy;
  5. mamy dental problems – periodontitis or oral mucositis.

The drug Biostymina should be used both during a cold – as a support for the body struggling with the disease – and after the symptoms have subsided, during the convalescence period. Sometimes the treatment with the use of such a drug is also carried out prophylactically (always under the supervision of a doctor).

Biostimin – dosage

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, Biostimin should be taken according to the following schedule:

  1. in adults: 1 ampoule (1 ml) once a day or every other day
  2. in children over 5 years of age and adolescents up to 18 years of age: 1/2 ampoule (0,5 ml) once a day or every other day.

Although no side effects were observed when taking more than the recommended dose of Biostimin, if you miss a dose of the drug, you should not “supplement” it by using a double dose. Treatment with Biostimin should last from 10 to 20 days. If necessary, you can repeat it once after 4 weeks – but it’s best to consult a doctor.

How to open a glass ampoule and take a dose of Biostimin? There is a dot mark at the narrowest point of the ampoule containing the drug just above the notch. Find it, cover the dot with your thumb and, holding the bottom of the ampoule with one hand, grab the neck of the ampoule with your index finger. Then it is enough to press the dot vigorously with your thumb and pull the ampoule back. After the ampoule breaks, gently remove its upper part and pour the contents onto the teaspoon.

It is worth remembering that the ampoule is a disposable packaging – opened ampoules must not be stored to consume the rest of the content at a later date.

WARNING

The liquid contained in the ampoules of Biostimin is intended for oral use ONLY. It should not be used by injection.

Biostimine – contraindications to use

Like many other drugs, Biostimin cannot be used in every patient. Listed in the leaflet contraindications to the use of the drug include:

  1. hypersensitivity to the active substance of the preparation – extract from fresh leaves of aloe vera;
  2. allergy to the preparation;
  3. progressive systemic diseases such as, for example, tuberculosis, leukemia or collagen diseases;
  4. autoimmune diseases (so-called autoimmune diseases),
  5. proliferative diseases.

It should also be remembered that Biostimin cannot be used for children under 5 years of age.

Biostimin – Warnings and Precautions

When using Biostymina, the following warnings contained by the manufacturer in the package leaflet should be considered:

  1. due to a lack of safety data, the preparation should not be administered to pregnant and breastfeeding women (data on the effect of Biostimin on fertility are also unknown);
  2. if, in parallel with the use of Biostimin, alarming symptoms appear, such as fever, shortness of breath or cough with expectoration of purulent sputum, contact your doctor immediately;
  3. Due to the lack of data on the effects of taking Biostimin on driving and using machines, it is recommended to be extremely cautious in such situations;
  4. Biostimin should be taken only orally;
  5. Do not take Biostymina after the expiry date stated on the package (the expiry date is the last day of that month);
  6. Do not exceed the recommended doses of Biostimin.

Biostimin – interactions with drugs, food and other substances

There are no data showing any interactions of Biostimin with other drugs. However, to increase the safety and effectiveness of the treatment, you should always inform your doctor about all medications, dietary supplements and other medicinal preparations (including herbal preparations) that you take in various forms. He will then assess whether the use of Biostimin is safe in our case and select the appropriate dosage.

There was also no interaction of the drug Biostimin with food or alcohol. However, it is worth monitoring your body’s reactions and if you experience any symptoms that may be related to such interactions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Biostimin – side effects

While taking Biostimin side effects are relatively rare and actually only cover the occurrence of allergic reactions. If an allergic reaction is observed, the treatment should be discontinued and the advice of a specialist should be sought. So far, no other side effects associated with the use of this preparation have been reported.

However, if you experience any side effects that may be due to taking Biostimin, please inform your doctor or pharmacist. Medical personnel may report the occurrence of such actions to the Department of Monitoring Undesirable Effects of Medicinal Products of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products.
