Biosterone is a hormone with a weak androgenic effect. It contains the hormone DHEA, which is a natural steroid hormone produced by the adrenal gland and released into the bloodstream. This hormone is used to produce sex hormones such as estrogen in women and androgens in men. What are the indications for its use?

The highest level of the DHEA hormone falls in the 2nd and 3rd decade of life. With age, its concentration decreases, which may result in weaker memory, a drop in mood, and even depression, weakness, various ailments related to menopause and andropause, decreased libido, decreased resistance to stress, obesity, atherosclerosis, sleep disorders and decreased immunity.

Biosterone – composition

The composition of Biosterone contains 5 or 10 mg of DHEA, i.e. dehydroepiandrosterone. Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate and sodium bicarbonate.

Biosterone is designed to supplement deficiencies that arise with age and improve the quality of life of aging people. By using Biosteron, the risk of death, e.g. from cardiovascular diseases, is reduced.

Biosterone is easily absorbed orally from the gastrointestinal tract and starts working quickly. The amount of DHEA hormone produced depends on the current needs of the body. Interestingly, the absorption of Biosterone speeds up the meal.

Biosterone – contraindications

A contraindication to the use of Biosteron is hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. You should also not take Biosterone if you are diagnosed with estrogen-dependent tumors (e.g. breast or ovary), benign hyperplasia and cancer of the prostate, and male breast cancer. The preparation should also not be taken in the case of severe liver and kidney failure. Biosterone is also not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Biosterone – precautions

Before administering the preparation, the doctor may order check-ups. Do not take higher doses of Biosterone than recommended. If severe side effects occur, stop taking the drug and see a doctor. If the side effects are not severe, stop taking the drug for 2-3 weeks and start treatment a second time, starting with a lower dose.

Before the age of 40, women may only take Biosterone if their doctor prescribes it. Women should also give up the use of Biosteron during hormone replacement therapy. The drug is not given to children.

Due to the content of lactose monohydrate, people with intolerance to certain sugars should not take the drug. In addition, inform your doctor in your history of all medications you take, including those without a prescription, as Biosteron may interact with them. The drug is also contraindicated for pregnant and lactating women.

Biosterone – side effects

Side effects resulting from the use of Biosteron are quite rare and usually result from improper use of the preparation. They also appear more often in women than in men. Side effects include increased sweating, changes in the skin, itching, acne, mild hirsutism in women, tenderness and enlargement of the nipples in men, menstrual disorders, headaches, mood changes, insomnia, mania, and heart problems.

Biosterone – dosage

The dose of Biosterone is determined by the doctor. The usual starting dose for women is 5 mg (max. 25 mg). For men, the initial dose is 10 mg (max. 50 mg). Over time, the dose of Biosterone should be increased by 5-10 mg every 2 weeks. The effects of taking are visible only after a few weeks, which is why Biosteron is used for a long time.
