Bioparox is in the form of an aerosol and is intended for the treatment of infections and inflammation of the respiratory tract caused by bacteria. In 2016, this drug, along with other drugs with the same active substance, was recommended by the European Medicines Agency to be withdrawn from the EU market.

Bioparox – principle of operation and application

Action of the antibiotic Bioparox in the form of a spray, it is based on an active substance called fusafugine, which has a bactericidal effect against, among others such microorganisms as Streptococcus gr. A, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis or Candida albicans. Many of them belong to the group of streptococci, causing diseases such as meningitis (especially in young children), pneumonia, angina and various types of pneumonia, bone marrow and bone inflammation.

Bioparox was developed for use against the following infections of the upper respiratory tract:

  5. laryngitis and tracheitis.

Lek Bioparox was sold as spraywhich can be applied according to the indications and development of the disease entity. In the case of sinusitis and rhinitis or rhinitis, it was used by spraying the substance directly into the nostrils of the nose and the patient inhaling. A similar situation occurred when a person suffered from pharyngitis, tonsillitis and laryngitis – the recommended use was inhalation of the spray through the mouth and inhalation towards the respiratory tract.

Dosage place Bioparox as spray depends on the age of the patient. People in childhood to treat the above-mentioned diseases, they should apply 4 breaths through the mouth or into each nostril separately at intervals of 6 hours during the day. Adults should apply Bioparox analogously to the use in children, except that the intervals of use during the day are shortened to 4 hours. If the disease being treated involves inflammation or infection of both the nasal passages and the trachea, larynx, pharynx and other airways accessible through the oral cavity, it is recommended to use Bioparoxysm simultaneously to various locations of the disease.

Spray Bioparox it shouldn’t be applied for more than 10.

Bioparox – replacements

Reason for withdrawal place Bioparox from Poland was a recommendation of the European Medicines Agency, which was based on an analysis of the benefits and risks of using this agent. The medicine was not always effective and carried the risk of severe allergic reactions, which could lead to death, and it was also suspected of causing bacterial resistance to antibiotics. The recommendation did not apply strictly to the drug Bioparoxbut the fusanfugine it contains. Therefore, all pharmaceuticals containing it have been withdrawn from most European countries. Therefore, there are no substitutes for this drug with the same composition as spray Bioparox.
