Andrey Vadimovich is a talented, intelligent person who has his own opinion on everything that happens. He does not know how to remain silent and cannot be a traitor by nature!

Andrei Makarevich 45 years on stage, more than one generation has grown up on his songs. This is an honest person whom I have known for a long time, I learned a lot from him. 2010s. Since the beginning of the second decade of the XXI century. Makarevich’s calm and generally positive attitude towards the Russian authorities is changing to a critical one. In the last songs of the musician, one can see dissatisfaction with public life (“Fly away”, “Sing”, “Excuse me”, “Make me laugh, Petrosyan”, “Putin is coming to us in Kholuyevo”).

Makarevich, together with Boris Grebenshchikov, Vladimir Shakhrin, Konstantin Kinchev and Yevgeny Fedorov, signed a letter to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev calling for a fair trial of the Mikhail Khodorkovsky case.

Answering a question from a reporter for the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, the musician said that the Khodorkovsky case is “a protracted shame of Russia.” It is “sewn with white thread” and should be reviewed in a fair court deciding the issue according to the law, and not fulfilling a political order.

Andrey Vadimovich was officially registered on February 3, 2012 as a confidant of the candidate for President of the Russian Federation Mikhail Prokhorov.

On August 6, 2012, the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets published an open letter from Andrei Makarevich to Vladimir Putin.

In the letter, the musician spoke about the sharply increased level of corruption in the country in recent years, extortion by officials of kickbacks, the inoperability of the court, which today is “either a machine for punishing unwanted people, or an apparatus for accepting money from the plaintiff”. He called on the president to personally intervene in what is happening.

Reaction to the letter: On September 20, 2012, Putin expelled Makarevich from the Council for Culture and Arts.

In 2014, he was one of the first to oppose the possible entry of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine after the Crimean crisis, and participated in the Peace March. He advised the pro-Russian activists of Donbass to emigrate to Russia.

Harassing a musician

State Duma Deputy Yevgeny Fedorov (Fedorov gained fame after he called rock musician Viktor Tsoi an agent of the CIA) proposed to deprive Makarevich of state awards after the artist’s trip to eastern Ukraine, where he visited cities destroyed by the war with humanitarian aid and gave a concert in a refugee camp in Svyatogorsk.

The Izvestia newspaper wrote that Makarevich went “on tour to Donbass,” without mentioning either a humanitarian mission or a concert for internally displaced persons.

Alla Pugacheva wrote a personal letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which she asked the head of state to draw attention to the fact that the persecution in which the Russian singer is currently found has gone too far.

Pugacheva noted in the letter that Andrei Makarevich has every right to express his own opinion. And it is not worth depriving him of awards or in any way condemning him for his expressed position.

Alla Pugacheva’s opinion was supported by such famous figures as Liya Akhedzhakova, Anna Tereshkova, Irina Prokhorova. In her letter, Alla Borisovna compared the singer with the writer Boris Pasternak, who was persecuted for accepting the Nobel Prize.

At one time, the scientist Andrei Sakharov found himself in a similar situation, who spoke out categorically against the introduction of Soviet troops into Afghanistan. Alla Pugacheva recalled that Andrei Makarevich actually received awards from the people of Russia, and not from this or that political class.

Writer Boris Akunin spoke in support of the musician. “I would like to show how many people are on his side. I think he needs it now, ”Akunin wrote on his Facebook page. “Harassing a musician is the work of hustlers, lackeys and just idiots,” writes Akunin.

Yevgeny Roizman, the head of Yekaterinburg, spoke in support. “Makarevich is a Russian poet, a worthy person and a good friend of mine. Some vile persecution was unleashed against him. But this is like an elephant and a pug, all this has long been described by Krylov in his fable ”.

The discussion around the musician unfolded after he gave a concert in front of refugees in the city of Svyatogorsk, which is controlled by the forces of Ukrainian security forces.

The writer A. Prokhanov published a column in Izvestia with the words: “To the music of the Time Machine, Russians were exterminated in Donbass …”.

State Duma deputy from “United Russia” Yevgeny Fedorov proposed to deprive the musician of state awards. He was supported by the scandalous deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg United Russia member Vitaly Milonov.

Meanwhile, the ombudsman for human rights in the Russian Federation, Ella Pamfilova, opposed such an initiative. The musician himself said that he did not plan to refuse the awards.

Makar: I do not think that Deputy Fedorov does not know that he is using lies. Some newspapers – “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, “Izvestia” reported that I traveled to Ukraine in order to speak in Slavyansk in front of the Ukrainian security forces.

Which is absolute nonsense. I went not to Slavyansk, but to Svyatogorsk. Children of refugees from Donetsk and Lugansk are kept there. Before whom I spoke. It was organized by the “Volunteers Fund of Ukraine” by Timofey Nagorny. These are people who, first of all, help everyone who is in trouble.

Therefore, I have absolutely nothing to make excuses for. I even feel a little like an idiot … If these comrades continue to call me a fascist, I will have to sue them for insulting my honor and dignity.

And I am very sorry that instead of making music, I have to deal with such squabbles.

Correspondent: how do you yourself feel about the state awards that you have on this wave?

Makar: I am completely calm about them. This is not about state awards. I am accused of what was not. This is very unpleasant for me. Taking this opportunity, I want to say about the musician’s love for animals, who proves this by deeds:

• is a member of the Board of Trustees of the BIM Animal Welfare Fund;
• in IA Interfax participated in a press conference. There were voiced the requirements of the legislative prohibition of the killing of seal pups on the territory of the Russian Federation;
• in 2008, he took part in a rally on Pushkinskaya Square in Moscow in defense of homeless animals;
• gives charity concerts to help stray animals.
