Biliary dyskinesia in children – symptoms, treatment
Biliary dyskinesia in children is diagnosed quite often and is a violation of the flow of bile into the duodenum. As a result of untimely intake of secretion, a violation of the digestion process occurs. This, in turn, has a negative impact on the child’s health and well-being.
Types of biliary dyskinesia in children and accompanying symptoms
The main role of bile in the digestive process is the breakdown of fats, which improves their absorption by the intestinal walls. The stimulation of peristalsis to move the contents of the intestine is also an important function that ensures the timely release of bile.
Pathologies of the outflow and release of bile are divided into three types, and each has its own symptoms:
- Hyperkinetic dyskinesia – characterized by an increased tone of the gallbladder and excretory ducts: bile is released frequently and quickly. The child has frequent, loose stools and a feeling of bitterness in the mouth, he is nauseous, and has no appetite.
- Hypokinetic form – the biliary tract is relaxed, the release of bile occurs slowly and in insufficient quantities. Its symptoms include a dull pain in the right hypochondrium, a feeling of fullness, flatulence, both constipation and diarrhea are possible. When palpating, an increase and soreness of the liver is determined.
- Mixed form – combines the features of hyperkinetic and hypokinetic forms. In this case, the pains are paroxysmal; palpation reveals soreness.
If these symptoms are found, the child must be taken to a medical facility for examination and diagnosis.
Treatment of biliary dyskinesia in children
The treatment of biliary dyskinesia is based on adjusting the child’s diet. Patients are assigned a dietary table number 5, which helps to improve digestion and liver function. Along with the diet, medication is used, which depends on the form of dyskinesia.
Patients with hypokinetic dyskinesia often suffer from disorders of the nervous system, and they are advised to take stimulating neurotropic drugs. In turn, patients with a hyperkinetic form are prescribed drugs that have a sedative effect.
It is equally important to create a positive emotional environment and completely eliminate the occurrence of stressful situations. In no case is it recommended to independently diagnose and self-medicate. Timely and correct treatment will prevent the development of pathology in a child and raise him healthy and happy.
