The second edition of BIG FOOD will take place this weekend in Madrid at the Central de Diseño de Matadero
The largest gastronomy and design market event on the national scene returns to the capital of Spain.
El Big Food Grrrreat Market It will arrive the next days 4,5 and 6 of November to once again captivate the world of trends, already converted into a foodie design hub.
More than 14.000 visitors visited the Big Food Market space last year, and for this second edition of 2016 it is intended to establish a conjunction between gastronomy and design in such a way that a joint work between chefs, restaurants and designers is generated, to create a series of totally innovative culinary proposals within its field.
An interesting way to promote and encourage food design or gastronomic design, an emerging discipline in our country, while meeting the expectations of the most demanding palates.
A Market with prizes
In this year’s edition, an initiative is presented in a competition format where the Designers Association of Madrid and the Madrid Design Foundation (DIMAD) and Mercamadrid, convene the first Big Food Design Awards, distinctions that seek to raise designers to a new challenge, that of uniting taste not only for food but also for space, and decoration of restaurant rooms.
A score of proposals will be evaluated by a professional jury, where the award is endowed with well-deserved recognition and the not inconsiderable figure of € 4.000.

The gastronomic Market

With an offer of varied dishes between € 3 and € 6, the visitor will be offered a true artistic creation, now on the plate, where design and culinary art will go hand in hand.
There are a total of 20 proposals, which will take the diner to a unique sensory experience in which not only the palate enters the game, but also the conceptual, the consumption experience and / or the ritual.
The ticket will have a price of 2 euros with a drink included and as a solidarity event, it offers the possibility of contributing 50 cents more when acquiring it, to donate them to a solidarity purpose, which is carried out by the Action Against Hunger organization, which will have a special space within the event.
