Bi-Profenid is a drug in the form of modified-release tablets with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic applications. It belongs to the group of NSAIDs – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Modified-release means that the tablets have two layers: fast and slow release of the active ingredient.

The active ingredient of Bi-Profenid is ketoprofen; a tablet of the drug contains 150 mg of this substance. A package of 20 pieces costs about PLN 13. The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, wheat starch, hydrated silica, gelatin, magnesium stearate, hydroxyethyl cellulose, aqueous calcium hydrogen phosphate, and riboflavin sodium phosphate.

Bi-Profenid is widely used: it is involved in the symptomatic treatment of rheumatic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), arthritis of other etiology, other inflammatory conditions and osteoarthritis.

Dosage of the drug Bi-Profenid

The dose of each drug should be determined by a physician based on an in-depth analysis and adjusted to the individual needs of the patient. In the case of long-term treatment, the standard dose is 150 mg of the active ingredient as one tablet once a day; the dose can also be split into two tablet halves to be taken at different times of the day.

For the short-term treatment of an acute condition, a dose of 300 mg per day may be recommended. 300 mg per day is also the maximum dose. It should be remembered that taking the drug minimally reduces the risk of side effects. A forgotten dose should not be made up for a later double dose.
