Betaloc ZOK is a beta-blocker drug that reduces the heart rate and the strength of its contraction, and lowers blood pressure.

Betaloc ZOK – composition and operation

The active substance of the preparation is metoprolol. It is a substance that belongs to a group of medicines called beta-blockers (another name used is beta-blockers). They work by blocking certain types of receptors called beta adrenergic receptors. Pharmacological blocking of beta receptors prevents their stimulation, and thus limits the effects of adrenaline or noradrenaline on target tissues with beta receptors. Adrenaline increases the heart rate and causes the peripheral blood vessels to contract. The action of metoprolol, like that of other drugs in this group, leads to a reduction in the heart rate and the strength of its contraction, a reduction in stroke volume and a reduction in blood pressure.

The preparation is indicated in the treatment of arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, symptomatic chronic heart failure with impaired left ventricular function, arrhythmias, especially supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular extrasystoles and atrial fibrillation (to slow down ventricular function), and paroxysmal cardiac dysfunction heart rhythm disturbances.
