According to the experience of buyers, at the peak of the season for the installation of climate equipment there are huge queues, and the prices for devices soar. This, for example, is confirmed by the abnormal heat in the summer of 2021 in Moscow, when the number of split systems and air conditioners available for purchase dropped sharply, and the nearest date for the installation of cooling equipment was in the first days of autumn.
As you know, the heat of the bones does not hurt, but it has a very negative effect on the general condition of a person. Split systems come to the rescue, which cool the air in the room in a matter of minutes.
In our ranking, we have collected the best inexpensive models of split systems for the home, based on customer reviews. Inexpensive models, as a rule, are not suitable for large houses, because their power is simply not enough for large areas. Here we will talk about split systems for living rooms of 20-30 m².

How to choose an inexpensive split system for your home
The name “split system” is not familiar to everyone, in contrast to the air conditioner. What is the difference? Air conditioners are divided into two groups:
- monobloc air conditioners, such as mobile or window;
- split systems: consisting of two or more blocks
Split systems, in turn, are divided into wall-mounted, floor and ceiling, cassette, column, channel. The difference between these cooling structures and monoblocks is that one block is located indoors, and the second is mounted outside.
Most often, a wall-mounted split system is installed in a small nursery, bedroom or living room. The indoor unit is compact, mounted on the wall right up to the ceiling and fits any interior. And the cooling capacity of wall-mounted split systems ranges from 2 to 8 kW, which is enough to cool a small room (20-30m²).
For large rooms, floor-to-ceiling split systems are more suitable. They are used in public areas, that is, in offices, restaurants, gyms and cinemas. Their advantage is that they can even be attached to false ceilings, or vice versa, placed at the level of skirting boards. The power of floor-to-ceiling split systems is most often in the range from 7 to 15 kW, which means that an area of approximately 60 m² will be successfully cooled with this unit.
Cassette split systems are suitable for semi-industrial premises with high ceilings with an area of more than 70 m². There are very flat models, while the supply of cooled air goes in several directions at once.
Column split systems are extremely rarely used for domestic purposes. Due to their high performance, they effectively cool large rooms (100-150m²), so their installation is appropriate in various industrial premises and office buildings.
To cool several adjacent rooms, it is worth choosing channel split systems. Their power reaches 44 kW, so they are designed for a room area of more than 120 m².
With all the variety of the range, you can easily choose a split system if you know what characteristics are important.
Room space and power
Always refer to the numbers in the technical specifications of the device in the sections “maximum area” and “cooling capacity”. So you can find out the volume of the room that the split system is able to cool. Remember the footage of the room where you plan to install a split system and choose the appropriate model.
The presence of an inverter
In inverter split systems, the compressor runs continuously, and the power is changed by increasing or decreasing the engine speed. This means that the heating or cooling of the room will be uniform and fast.
It is especially important to choose an inverter for those who consider not only the cooling functions of a split system. The inverter unit will better cope with the full heating of the room in the winter. But here it is important to note that inverters are more expensive than conventional models.
General recommendations
- Choose models with low energy consumption (class A) because it saves you a lot of money.
- Focus on the noise level. Ideally, it should be in the range of 25-35 dB, but remember that as performance increases, the noise level will certainly increase.
- Find out what material the indoor unit body is made of, as white models tend to change color over time due to exposure to sunlight, dust, etc.
If you focus on the parameters indicated above, you can choose at the same time a budget, powerful and quiet version of a split system.

Where is the best place to place a split system indoors?
1. The fixing point of the indoor unit should be close to the location of the outdoor unit.
2. in order to “not blow through”, it is better to install a split system not over a sleeping place and not over a desktop.
