Home Health from the very first days Pregnancy – woman’s health Childbirth Feeding the baby Care and health Baby

Having a baby and the moment it occurs is an individual matter for every woman. However, scientists are trying to determine what is the best time to give birth to the first child and how it affects the further functioning of the woman’s body. Can the moment of having the first child affect the mother’s life expectancy?

  1. South Korean researchers conducted a study that used government health records to find out what happened to women 18 years after the birth of their first child
  2. During the study period of over 243 women, XNUMX mothers died
  3. The highest percentage of survival was seen in women who gave birth to their first child around the age of 20
  4. For women who gave birth before or after 24-25. At the age of 18 years, the risk of death from any cause within 5 years was up to XNUMX%. higher
  5. One of the researchers in the study considers mental health problems in young mothers and more difficult recovery in older mothers to be the main causes of this phenomenon.

South Korean scientists conducted a study to establish the relationship between age at first birth and mortality. The results suggest that women who gave birth to their first child around the age of 24 and 25 – live longer. The researchers working on the study took into account many different factors, and the analyzes included more than XNUMX women from two regions of South Korea. The researchers also tried to determine what might be the cause of their results.

The researchers stress, however, that more research is needed to determine whether the timing of women having babies poses a risk to their health and life expectancy. They should also cover a much larger number of people living in different regions of the world.

Influence of having children on life expectancy

In the latest study, published in late January in the journal “Maturitas”, scientists analyzed data from 4 people. 44 women from two regions of South Korea – Ansan and Anseong. They compared 1498 women who gave birth to their first child between the ages of 20 and 23, 1033 mothers who gave their first child between the ages of 24 and 25, and 1 women who gave birth to their first child between the ages of 513 and 26. Researchers also used government health records to find out what happened to women 36 years later.

The results collected during the analysis showed the researchers a tendency in the shape of the letter “U”. This means that the further from the age of 24 or 25 the mothers were at the time of childbirth, the risk of death from any cause within 18 years was up to 5%. higher.

Researchers analyzed the deaths from both cardiovascular disease, such as heart attacks and strokes, and all other causes of death. During the 18-year period of the study, 243 women died, more than half in the group of younger mothers and one-third in the group of older mothers. Scientists also calculated the survival rate for cardiovascular disease. In younger mothers it was 97,3%, and for women aged around 20 it was 99,6%. and 98,7 percent for older mothers. Taking all causes of death into account, the percentages of survival over the 18-year study period were 91,1%, respectively. for younger mothers, 96,4 percent. for women aged around 20 and 95,2 percent. for older mothers.

The authors of the study emphasize, however, that their data possession is not complete. They do not have information on whether women smoked before the birth of their first child, which could significantly affect the results of the study. In their opinion, this study should also include more people living in different regions of the world.

  1. The world’s oldest mothers. “If you have a child, you have no death”

What is the reason for this?

As Professor Sangshin Park, an epidemiology expert at Seoul University and one of the study members, said in the Daily Mail, the poorer health outcomes of younger mothers may be due to socio-economic reasons. According to the researcher, young women from less privileged backgrounds were more likely to have children in their teens, which increased their risk of developing a range of mental and physical illnesses.

In contrast, for older mothers, Professor Park suggests that the impact on their life expectancy may be the problem of getting back into shape after pregnancy.

Older mothers have more difficulty recovering from pregnancy and childbirth than younger mothers, and their muscles may not be able to function as they used to.

Park said, quoted by the Daily Mail.
