Berberil – indications, dosage, contraindications, side effects of the drug on eye irritation

ACTION

A drug that stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors, an imidazole derivative.

INDICATIONS AND DOSAGE

Eye irritation caused by e.g. smoke, wind, chlorinated water, light. Allergic conjunctivitis. Usually 1 drop 2-3 × / d into the conjunctival sac; use for 8–14 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, angle-closure glaucoma. Do not use in children under 2 years of age. Do not use the preparation in pregnant women and during breastfeeding.

WARNINGS

If symptoms worsen or do not improve after a few days, consult your doctor. The preparation is intended only for the treatment of moderate conjunctival irritation. Irritation or redness from serious eye conditions such as infection, foreign matter, or chemical damage to the cornea requires medical attention. If you experience severe eye pain, headache, loss of vision, sudden appearance of moving spots in your vision, sudden redness of the eyes, light-induced pain or double vision, consult your doctor immediately. Long-term use of the preparation should be avoided, especially in children. The use of the preparation requires special care and possible consultation with a doctor in the case of people with severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. coronary arterial disease, hypertension, pheochromocytoma) and / or metabolic disorders (e.g. patients with diabetes, hyperthyroidism) thyroid gland) as well as in the case of people suffering from dry rhinitis, keratoconjunctivitis and glaucoma. If you are using MAO inhibitors (and within 14 days of discontinuing their use) or drugs that may increase blood pressure, consult your doctor before using the preparation. The preparation contains benzalkonium chloride, which may cause eye irritation. The use of soft contact lenses is contraindicated. The preparation changes the color of soft contact lenses. If you use hard contact lenses, remove them before using them, and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in. In order to avoid contamination of the preparation, do not touch any surface with the tip of the container, and tightly close the container after use. Six weeks after first opening the container, the medicine should be discarded, even if it has not been used. People driving motor vehicles should exercise extreme caution. After using the preparation, pupil dilation and blurred vision may occur. In such case, you should not drive or operate a motor vehicle.

INTERACTIONS

The preparation used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants may increase blood pressure. In patients taking MAO inhibitors (as well as within 14 days of discontinuing their use) or other drugs that may increase blood pressure, the preparation should not be used without consulting a doctor. If you use other eye drops or ointments at the same time, leave a 5-minute interval.
