Benefits for military children: payments at the birth of a child, one-time, monthly
Benefits for children of military service on conscription and contract are different. The state takes care of the families of the people who protect it, but the military are not always aware of their privileges. The information provided will help you figure out how to use them.
Lump sum and monthly allowance
The families of servicemen are entitled to all types of assistance provided by the state for the birth and upbringing of babies. In addition and independently of other payments, benefits are accrued when the father is in the conscript service. It is believed that by calling a husband to serve, the state deprives the family of the breadwinner and is obliged to take care of her.
Benefits are paid at the place of residence of the wife after providing a certificate from the military commissariat about the conscription, indicating the terms of service and copies of documents provided by law in accordance with the type of assistance:
- The pregnant wife of a serviceman is paid a one-time sum of 14000 rubles. after providing a medical certificate and a copy of the marriage certificate.
- Allowance for children under 3 years of age in the amount of 6000 rubles. the wife receives monthly, providing a copy of the baby’s birth certificate.
- Assistance is provided for the children of military personnel attending preschool institutions.
All these payments are charged not earlier than the beginning of military service and stop when it ends.
Payments at the birth of a child for the wives of contractors
There are no special types of assistance for this category, all benefits are paid according to the general rules. If desired, they can be received every month or immediately, the accrual procedure has some peculiarities:
- These women can obtain maternity benefits at their place of work.
- The procedure for receiving money for a born child is standard; an application is submitted at the place of work, study or to the social protection body.
- For a child under one and a half years of age, the care allowance is credited only to the wife, since the husband, a contract employee, is not entitled to this.
- If you need constant care for a child with health problems. If there is evidence that living conditions affect the deterioration of health, the mother leaves her job and receives a childcare allowance.
The allowance is paid until the child reaches a certain age or the period specified by doctors.
Documents for registration of assistance
To receive child support, a soldier must provide:
- marriage certificate and its copy;
- work book of the wife or educational document;
- confirmation that the family lives in the region where the husband is serving;
- a certificate issued by the Employment Center stating that the woman does not work and does not receive unemployment benefits.
Additional benefits for children of contractors depend on the region and cease to apply when they change their place of residence.
In addition to federal benefits, the children of military personnel are entitled to regional benefits. The lawyers at the father’s place of service or consultants at the local Social Security Office can provide the correct information.
