Benefit for a child under 16: monthly, amount, to whom, how much
Families with a child under 16 years old are paid an allowance, which is drawn up by one of the parents, guardian or adoptive parent at the place of registration. If you are planning or already expecting a baby to appear, find out about the features of these payments.
How is the monthly benefit assigned and how much is paid
To apply for such state aid, you need to contact the Multifunctional Center or the Department of Social Protection of the Population. For its appointment, it is necessary that the child lives with the parent, and the average per capita income is below the subsistence level in this region. This allowance is not provided for parents deprived of parental rights and guardians receiving compensation from the state.
To receive assistance, you need to submit an application and provide a number of documents:
- copies of the child’s birth certificate, parents’ passports, marriage certificate;
- family composition data;
- certificates from the place of work or employment center for the unemployed with the calculation of income for the previous quarter;
- certificate from the place of study.
It is better to check the full list of documents in the department of social protection, since for different categories of citizens, for example, single mothers or disabled people, they may differ. The decision on payments is made within 10 days, but may take longer if additional verification or clarification is required.
Payments start from the month in which the documents are submitted and continue until the child turns 16. The receipt of the allowance will last for students of general education institutions, but no longer than their majority.
To whom and what amount of payments is assigned
Although the receipt of the allowance is provided for by federal law, in each region there are some peculiarities of its purpose, and the amount differs. In addition, the calculation of the payment is influenced by the category to which the family belongs:
- For a single mother. In this case, the amount received is 2 times higher than usual.
- If the other parent does not pay child support or serves in the army. This provides for a 50% increase in benefits.
- Disabled people, large families. The issue on these categories is resolved at the regional level.
The total amount of payments can be measured in hundreds or thousands of rubles. The frequency of receipt in the subjects of the Federation may also differ. In some of them, the allowance is received on a quarterly basis. Eligibility is confirmed annually. If circumstances have changed and the family has lost the right to receive benefits, this must be reported within a month, otherwise the illegally issued amount will be recovered through the court.
Making payments for children does not cause difficulties, and their accrual for the poor is a significant support.
