Belgian waffles: recipe for a waffle iron. Video
Belgian waffles are distinguished by their large size, light fluffy dough and high “grid”. These waffles are served with whipped cream, jam, melted or grated chocolate, fresh fruit and ice cream.
Classic Belgian Waffle Recipe
For classic Belgian waffles, you will need: – 250 g unsalted butter; – 250 g granulated sugar; – 500 g wheat flour; – 6 chicken eggs; – 500 ml milk, 3,5% fat; – 5 ml vanilla oil extract; – 1 a teaspoon of baking powder; – vegetable oil.
Belgian waffles are not a national recipe for the country of the same name. They were first prepared in 1958 at an exhibition in Brussels by American chefs
Sift baking powder and flour into a bowl. Lightly beat the softened butter with a mixer with vanilla extract and granulated sugar, add eggs one at a time and, last of all, pour in the milk in a thin stream. Pour the flour sifted with baking powder into the liquid mixture, beating without stopping. Heat the electric waffle iron according to the instructions, apply a little vegetable oil to the surface with a special brush or from a cooking spray, pour ½ cup of dough and bake the waffles one by one. Serve golden hot Belgian waffles with honey or sweet corn syrup.
Belgian Buckwheat Waffles
Golden on the outside, crispy on the inside, these “healthy” Belgian waffles will appeal to those with a sweet tooth who don’t forget to keep an eye on their waist. Take: – 2 cups of buckwheat flour; – 4 teaspoons of baking powder; – 1 cup of granulated sugar; – ¼ teaspoon of salt; – 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon; – 2 large chicken eggs; – ½ cup of melted butter; – 1 and ¾ glass of milk; – ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract; – vegetable oil.
Heat the waffle iron. Separate the white from the yolk. Whisk the yolks with sugar, add melted butter, vanilla extract and milk, cinnamon and salt. Beat in a homogeneous mass and in a thin stream, continuing to beat, add buckwheat flour. In a separate, dry and clean bowl, beat the egg whites until firm. Gently mix the whipped egg white with the rest of the dough. Grease a waffle iron with vegetable oil and bake the waffles, pouring a little dough onto a hot plate. Serve warm.
If you bake a lot of waffles, so that they do not cool down, put the dish with them in an oven preheated to 120 ° C.
Yeast-based waffles are fluffy and tasty. It is better to knead the dough in the evening, and enjoy delicious hot pastries in the morning. You will need: – 1 and ½ teaspoon of dry instant yeast; – 1 and ½ cup of warm milk; – 6 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter; – 1 teaspoon of salt; – 1 and ½ teaspoon of granulated sugar; – 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract; – 2 cups of wheat flour; – 2 chicken eggs; – vegetable oil.
In a large, deep bowl, combine yeast, flour, salt and sugar, add milk, vanilla and melted butter. Whisk into a smooth, homogeneous mass and let stand for an hour at room temperature. Cover the bowl with cling film and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, heat the waffle iron, put the eggs in the dough and beat and bake again, not forgetting to grease the working surface of the appliance.
