If your Beko refrigerator is not working, you need to pay attention to the symptoms of a breakdown that will help you find the problem. Often the causes of breakdowns are simple things, for example, overloading the shelves with products. The technique is also sensitive to power surges, so without a stabilizer there is a risk of damage to the electronic part.
What problems are typical for Beko refrigerators, we will consider below.
Typical Beko malfunctions
The problems of all refrigerators are similar to each other. But there are breakdowns that are more common with some brands than others. Consider the main problems for Veko models.
No cold in the chamber
There was an unexpected breakdown: the freezer works fine, but the refrigerator does not cool. Such an imbalance can cause overload of some components and the final breakdown of the refrigerator. Before you start troubleshooting, decide whether your refrigerator is single-compressor or dual-compressor.
For single-compressor Beko models:
- Check how tightly the cell door is closed. Often foreign objects, products interfere with the closure. You need to remove everything and close the door. But if the door has been open for a long time, and a snow cover has formed on the walls, it is better to defrost the refrigerator.
- Check if the thermostat is set correctly. One compressor immediately starts to cool the freezer. If the temperature in the room is high, and the temperature in the freezer compartment is at the maximum level, then it is not surprising that the cold does not reach the lower compartment. Adjust the thermostat: in the freezer at 2,5, in the refrigerator compartment – 2 or 3.
- Examine the fan. Its blades could be overgrown with ice if you have a Nofrost system. Defrost appliances for at least 10 hours.
If the operation does not improve after defrosting, then the fan is broken and needs to be replaced.
Damage that needs repair:
- When the fan does not work due to snow and ice on the back wall, this indicates a failure of the evaporator heater. You will need to install a new part.
- Have you noticed that the motor is constantly running, and the freezer is overgrown with ice? The reason is the thermostat or evaporator sensor. Due to incorrect operation, the system considers that the freezer is not cold enough. Therefore, only the upper compartment is cooled.
- Damage to the chamber and leakage of freon gas. If you accidentally damaged the camera during defrosting, you need to call the master. He will find and fix the leak.
Malfunctions of the two-chamber two-compressor refrigerator “Beko”:
- First of all, the door and fan are checked.
- You can talk about a breakdown of the motor-compressor if streaks of oily liquid are visible or the motor turns on for only a few seconds. Then it needs repair or replacement. The video shows the defects of the compressor:
- If one wall of the refrigerator is swollen, and inside there is a snow layer in this place, then freon has leaked and repairs are needed. Also, freon can leak due to mechanical damage.
There are many more breakdowns that only the master can determine.
The refrigerator freezes hard
It is bad when there is not enough cold in the chamber, but when the food freezes from its excess, they are no longer suitable for food. Check the thermostat setting immediately. Normal values should be between 2 and 3,5.
Such a breakdown can happen in different models: Beko CN 335220 X, Beko DSA 25000. Reasons:
- Bad door seal. When warm air enters the chamber, the system tries to compensate for it, so it freezes even more. As a result, snow and ice form on the walls. It is necessary to reanimate or replace the seal for tight closure.
- The drain hole is clogged, so the condensate does not find an outlet. You may notice water collecting under the lower drawers, which then freezes. The hole needs to be cleaned.
- A broken air sensor also leads to cold build-up. The system does not receive data on the temperature in the chamber, so there is a constant cooling.
- “Stuck” switch valve. If it stops working, then the refrigerator compartment will cool the food more, while the freezer will be very warm.
The refrigerator compartment is overgrown with ice and snow
Does the refrigerator have to be defrosted frequently due to large snow formations? Then you need to diagnose the equipment. Check:
- Is the thermostat in the chamber set correctly? If at the maximum value, then set it to a value of 2-3,5.
- If your model has a superfreeze mode, then turn it off.
The main reasons for this “behavior” of the refrigerator:
- Thermal sensor malfunction. If the sensor does not work correctly, the system receives incorrect data. Therefore, even more cold is forced into the chamber.
- Refrigerators with a No Frost and Free Frost system could have a clogged drain hole, so the moisture that accumulates during defrosting has nowhere to go. As a result, snow is formed. You can clean the drainage hole yourself or call the master.
- Problems with the defrost system. As a result, the evaporator freezes up, and the temperature in the chamber begins to rise. Therefore, the motor-compressor works intensively, pumping cold.
- Coolant leak. As performance declines, the system compensates for the breakdown by adding more cold. Therefore, snow forms on the walls.
- The wear of the door seal also affects the cold build-up, as already described above.
- The capillary pipeline through which freon flows is clogged. You need to call the master to clean and refuel the refrigerant.
- Solenoid valve defective. It switches cooling between freezer and refrigerator. Therefore, one chamber can become overgrown with snow, while the other does not freeze at all.
Loud noise during refrigerator operation
When the equipment is noisy beyond the norm, you need to take action. Why does this happen:
- The transport bolts that secure the motor shock absorbers have not been removed – this is how the motor is protected during transportation. But during operation, the bolts do not allow the shock absorbers to perform their function, so vibration damping does not occur.
- The installation of the refrigerator is incorrect. If the back wall is in contact with the wall, then the equipment will buzz.
- Overload. Pots, touching each other, begin to rattle.
- The wear of the motor-compressor and its components also leads to a strong hum during operation.
- The ice-covered fan makes a lot of noise. You need to defrost the refrigeration equipment.
We have listed the main causes of breakdowns of the Beko refrigerator. These faults are more common, but there are many other problems that you may encounter. For example, refrigerator electronics can break down from a sudden power outage or power surge. Therefore, follow the installation and safety rules.
