Without leaving home, you can not only do shopping, pay bills or even conduct remote lessons. You can use telepaths in an equally convenient way, as well as gain access to the Patient’s Internet Account. To become an e-patient, it is enough to have a valid trusted profile or use electronic banking.
Remote medical consultations
Over 2 million people already use the Internet Patient Account, a free application of the Ministry of Health available on the website pacjent.gov.pl. An active account allows you to deal with many matters related to our health without leaving home, which is especially important during an epidemic. Without the need to visit the clinic, after completing a medical teleportation, we can, for example, receive an e-prescription by SMS or e-mail.
– Using remote medical consultations and receiving an e-prescription by SMS or e-mail without leaving your home is now possible thanks to consistent decisions and regulations supporting the digitization of healthcare. Solutions that eliminate the need for direct contact are real support in the difficult fight against the coronavirus epidemic. Empty waiting rooms in primary care clinics, where many patients with infections could be found on a daily basis, show that the public responded very consciously and responsibly to our calls by choosing telephone consultations and e-prescription. Out of concern for the safety and health of Poles, we still recommend that you stay at home and, for example, use this time to activate your Internet Patient Account. – says Janusz Cieszyński, deputy minister of health.
Trusted profile and Patient Online Account without leaving home
Medical staff and patients are more and more willing to use telemedicine and e-health solutions. Until March 29 this year. doctors issued nearly 175 million e-prescriptions for nearly 21 million patients. In addition to the possibility of receiving a remote e-prescription, we can also check on the Patient Online Account whether we have purchased all the drugs and see what dosage was prescribed by the doctor. We can authorize a loved one to our account, and they will receive a code via SMS, enabling the e-prescription to be filled.
In addition, we have access to all leaflets for drugs registered in Poland, so we can read at any time what to pay attention to while taking the drug or what are the side effects.
The first login to the Patient’s Internet Account can be completely online. You only need to own it device with internet access and choose one of the free login options – a trusted profile or an ID card with an electronic layer (e-proof). The third option is the option to log in directly via the PKO BP bank, if we have an iPKO or Inteligo internet account.
If we don’t have a valid trusted profile we can use electronic banking. All you need to do is log in to your bank account and set up a trusted profile via the bank. Currently, 8 banks already offer such a possibility – details are available on the website www.pz.gov.pl. Then the entire identity verification process takes a few minutes, because it is the bank that will confirm our identity from a distance. Having a trusted profile, we will be able to use all public administration websites, including the Internet Patient Account. During an epidemic, however, you should abandon the creation of a personally trusted profile at the office, because it involves the necessity to leave the house and the possibility of exposure to the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection.

A person with a valid trusted profile should log in to their Online Patient Account in order to receive the e-prescription remotely. pacjent.gov.pl and in the tab My account / Edit your details enter a mobile phone number or e-mail address. Thanks to this, he will receive an e-prescription via SMS or e-mail.
E-prescription code over the phone in emergency situations
However, there are situations when the patient does not have an activated Internet Patient Account.
In the case of remote medical service provision, no access to the IT system or in an exceptional situation such as the state of an epidemic, e-prescription information can be obtained by phone or in another agreed form. The doctor then gives the patient a 4-digit e-prescription code along with the name of the drug and information on how to take it. The patient should exercise extreme caution and carefully write down the recommendations received from the doctor. To fulfill such an e-prescription in a pharmacy, together with a 4-digit code, the patient also provides the PESEL number of the person who was prescribed the drug. However, such a solution should be treated as a temporary and emergency solution, as it deprives the patient of access to all information contained in the e-prescription.
We can get an e-prescription without leaving home, because clinics have introduced the possibility of obtaining medical teleportation, thanks to which consultations can be carried out by phone or via the Internet. This applies to primary health care, outpatient specialist care as well as psychiatric care and addiction treatment. In addition, clinics offer their patients the option of ordering e-prescriptions for continuing treatment via the Internet.
Please note that in clinics that provide advice under the National Health Fund (NFZ), this service is always free.
If there is no clinic offering teleportation services in our area or clinics do not issue prescriptions remotely, you can contact one of the selected primary health care facilities or specialist clinics in our province. Their list is available at the website of the National Health Fund.
At the same time, there is no fear that telepaths will prevent direct visits to doctors. If necessary after the remote interview, patients will be suggested to visit a medical facility or contact a sanitary and epidemiological station.
