Beam on the floor in the dishwasher – what is it

Do you need a “beam on the floor” in the dishwasher, what is it? We offer to understand the purpose and usefulness of this option, is it worth overpaying for it? The design of dishwashers improves every year, so the market constantly offers the buyer the latest reliable equipment options. Modern functions are endless: some of them bring real benefits, and some do not make much sense.

How the indicator works

The “beam on the floor” function in dishwashers is a special light point located near the PMM door. Most often, built-in machines are supplemented with an option to facilitate the operation of an electrical appliance. The main purpose of the light bulb is to notify the user about the end of the program: washing or drying.

There are various ways:

  1. Lights up at the end of the selected programme.
  1. Disappears from view at the end of the washing or drying cycle.
  2. Changes color. For example, instead of red, green lights up.

Some manufacturers have released models in which the beam on the floor function has been improved: instead of the usual light indication, an entire display is projected onto the floor. So, some dishwashers from the Bosch or Siemens brands can display a screen so that you can see how much time is left before the end of the wash.

Important! In some Siemens machines, the size of the projection of time is adjusted to make it more convenient to use.

What is the use of a laser indicator

Few people are impressed by the “beam” function. This happens for one simple reason – users do not always know why a laser pointer is needed and what is its practical use. Consider the main advantages of the technology:

  1. Conventional PMM models are built into the headset in such a way that the control panel is hidden behind the furniture facade, so it is not visible how much longer the cycle will last. There are no such difficulties with indication on the floor.
  2. Most recent dishwashers have an audible alert feature. But for people with hearing loss, such a development may not be of benefit, which cannot be said about a light beam.

Attention! The time indicator projected onto the floor is found not only in fully built-in models, but also in PMM with the possibility of partial embedding. It all depends on the manufacturer of the equipment.

In which PMM models can this function be found

There are more and more models with a time indicator on the floor. If you decide that you need this option and are going to buy a car with a beam, you should choose the best model from this line. Consider the most successful, in our opinion, solutions from well-known brands:

  • Korting KDI. A fully built-in model that washes up to 10 sets of dishes in one cycle. In addition to the indication, there is a display of the level of detergents and regenerating agents. There is leakage protection.
  • Whirlpool ADG. Narrow built-in type machine, equipped with a functional screen and leakage protection. Like the previous one, it washes up to 10 sets of dishes. There is a 1/2 load option to save resources.
  • De Dietrich DVH1120J. Full-size model with a convenient “beam” option from the Premium line. High-quality assembly and a set of advanced options are the main features of this PMM.
  • Kuppersbusch IGVE. Another premium variant of the full-size type. Holds up to 13 dishes, is economical: up to 6 liters of water per 1 wash cycle. Among other useful features there is a “beam on the floor”.

Today, many worthy options can be found in brands such as Electrolux, Gorenie, Mile, etc. Having chosen the appropriate capacity and functionality, you will get a modern machine, and a convenient indicator will facilitate the use of equipment. Moreover, you already know what laser indication is and for what purposes it can be used.
