The Main Pharmaceutical Inspectorate is recalling five series of brewing herbs throughout the country. Fenugreek seed infusion is used, among others, in for the treatment of inflammation of the skin and in the case of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
The herbs withdrawn by GIF are fenugreek seeds (Trigonellae foenugraeci semen) in the form of infusing herbs. The decision concerns the following five product series:
– 058.2018 with a validity date until January 2019,
– 1066.2017 valid until December 2018,
– 1065.2017 valid until December 2018,
– 933.2017 valid until October 2018,
– 772.2017 valid until September 2018.
Their production is the responsibility of Zakład Zielarski «KAWON-HURT» Nowak Sp. J.
The above series of the preparation did not meet the quality requirements “due to the presence of disqualifying features”. The Main Pharmaceutical Inspector made the decision immediately enforceable.
Fenugreek seed infusions have an anti-inflammatory effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa. They support digestive processes and soothe ailments such as: dyspepsia, flatulence or gastritis. They can be applied externally to the skin. They are recommended for various types of inflammation. Fenugreek seeds also help lower cholesterol and blood sugar. Some people take them in the form of herbal teas or, after mixing them with water, make a paste of them, from which special compresses are made for a sore spot on the body. In addition, the seeds are used as an aid in the treatment of hemorrhoids, stomach ulcers and colon cancer.
