How to choose a balm for colored hair
In the category of products that are usually paired with shampoo and used after shampooing, we can distinguish:
balms;
balms-rinsers;
conditioners.
If you think that these are all different names for the same product, you are in for a discovery: these products are not radical, but still differ in their effect on hair.
For example, rinse aid neutralizes the alkaline environment of shampoo. It does not penetrate deeply, does not restore the structure of the hair, but makes them manageable and smooth, preventing moisture loss.
The conditioner moisturizes coarse and overdried hair after dyeing, it has a lot of nutrients. In order for them to work, it must be applied along the entire length (but not on the scalp), left for two to three minutes, and then washed off.
The task of the balm is to nourish and protect the hair. It is applied to wet, wrung out hair and kept for the time indicated on the package – from 3 to 10 minutes.
Thus, each of these tools, in addition to the main task of maintaining the brightness of the color after staining, simultaneously solves several more. Balm for dry colored hair will give the strands the necessary moisture, strengthening balm – reconstructs damaged hair, porous hair – fills voids in the surface layer of the hair, making each hair smooth and manageable.
The desired effect is achieved due to the composition of the product. A good balm for colored hair, in our opinion, includes several active ingredients at once, for example:
vegetable oils of jojoba, macadamia, argan, flax, etc. – to nourish and moisturize hair;
extracts of valuable plants (goji, cranberries, roses, geraniums) – to preserve color and shine;
polyphenols – to maintain color and protect hair from negative external influences;
hyaluronic acid – to moisturize the hair;
vitamins and minerals – for hair growth and strengthening;
keratin – to restore strands.
