BB, CC, DD cream: how they differ

They really do look alike. No wonder you still can’t figure out the difference. And in general, isn’t it a foundation? Let’s figure it out together.

What is BB-, CC-, DD-cream

These are products of a new format, and they fully meet modern beauty trends, combining:

  • multifunctionality;

  • ease of use;

  • light texture;

  • instant effect.

BB-, CC- and DD-creams certainly meet these requirements. In one tube, we get a product that combines the functions of several care and makeup products.

  1. Daily cream. Moisturizing components and vitamins in the formula are enough to compete with day care.

  2. Toning and corrective agent. Pigments and light-reflecting microparticles optically smooth the skin.

  3. Sanskrit. The composition always has SPF, often high.

In addition, these products serve as an excellent base for makeup, although they were originally created for independent use.

Creams with prefixes BB-, CC-, DD- are especially loved by the younger generation of beauty users who want a cosmetic product to do everything at once and as quickly as possible.

What is the difference between BB, CC and DD creams

BB Cream

The first of this trinity on the beauty market appeared BB-cream. According to legend, it was invented back in the 1980s in Germany for those who underwent invasive cosmetic procedures.

The abbreviation BB stands for Blemish Balm – “balm for imperfections.” Later, when the cream began to gain popularity among the general public, another, more glamorous definition of Beauty Balm took root – “beauty balm”.

Despite the European origin, the mass production of BB cream was first established in Asia. And only then, through America, he returned to Europe.

To be honest, BB Cream is a close relative of a daytime moisturizer with a tinted effect. The only difference is that BB takes care of the skin more thoroughly and always contains particles that reflect and scatter light to give radiance.

The color palette of BB creams is small, but this is due to the fact that the new generation pigments easily adapt to the natural skin tone and are invisible on the face.

CC Cream

This product has more specific goals. Its full name is Color Correcting Cream, that is, “color correction cream”. If your main problem is uneven skin tone, redness, age spots, breakout marks, then CC cream is the right solution.

CC creams contain pigments in different shades to correct skin tone

As with BB cream, you will find moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants in its composition, but there is still a difference.

Characteristics of the CC cream:

  • lighter texture and weightless coverage;

  • less tinting pigments;

  • more corrective particles;

  • high UV protection factor.

CC creams are chosen by owners of oily, problem skin. And they do it right. The oil content in CC formulas is minimal or reduced to zero.

DD cream

Dymanic Do-All – “a dynamic cream that does everything”, or Daily Defense – daily protection combines all the advantages of its predecessors. It has enhanced both caring and corrective components, plus it always has a high SPF. But the main difference between DD-cream is the mandatory presence of antioxidants in the formula.

Despite the obvious advantages, DD-cream cannot yet be compared with its “relatives” in terms of popularity. The key word here is “yet”, so we are waiting for new products with this abbreviation in the title.
