Types of enamel for bath restoration
For bathroom renovation, the following enamels are offered today:
- Epoxy. It is a two-component compound that must be diluted with a hardener before use. The composition contains epoxy resins, fillers, pigments. For a long time it has been used for the restoration of bathtubs, as it has a long service life.
- Alkyd bath enamel. Does not contain solvents, due to which it almost does not smell. With precise application, such enamel lasts for at least 7 years.
- Acrylic. This is a latex paint that contains acrylic. It is used, as a rule, in the pouring coating technique.

Before purchasing one or another type of enamel, it is important to identify the degree of damage to the surface of the product. For example, if the enamel layer is badly damaged, there are deep chips, in this case it is better to use acrylic or epoxy enamel.

The easiest way to restore a bath is spray painting. The advantages of this enamel:
- dries up in a couple of hours;
- no need to use additional tools;
- high adhesion of the composition;
- ease of application;
- a varied assortment for different types of bathtubs and surface damage – in a spray can there be acrylic, alkyd, epoxy enamel.
But when using aerosol enamel, certain skills are required in order for the coating to be uniform. In addition, such a coating is short-lived, since it is applied in a thin layer. But with the help of an aerosol, you can easily carry out small repairs to the bathroom, give the product a fresh look. Reviews of such enamel for the bath are positive, since the aerosol method for restoring the surface of the product is the easiest for independent use.
To repair a bathtub using enamel in a can, you must first prepare the product: clean it from dirt, soap residues, plaque, then sand the surface with sandpaper, wipe with a dry cloth and degrease with a solvent.
After drying, proceed to painting – shake the can and apply the composition with a thin layer on the damaged areas. Make sure that the enamel is applied evenly. After applying the composition, let the bath dry for 6 hours, and then repeat the application again. After the restoration, the bathroom cannot be used for 48 hours.
