Bastion

Cognac “Bastion” produces the company Beluga. The bottles into which the drink is poured are made of colorless or smoky glass, a convex image of a sword stands out above the label, it is not easy to forge such a sign. The name is written on the golden label and the expiration date is indicated.

Historical reference. The Russian Wine and Vodka Company (RVVK) has owned the Bastion brand since 2002. The management of the company came up with a win-win move: to carry cognac spirits in tanks from France, and to make the blend in Russia. Thanks to this, French cognac of decent quality entered the shelves in Russia at an affordable price.

Cognac spirits for “Bastion” are made from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the province of Grand Champagne, near the city of Cognac (Poitou-Charentes region). Distillates are subjected to double distillation in copper stills and kept for at least 3 years in Limousin oak barrels, burned in a special way. As a result, alcohols acquire a unique taste and aroma.

In 2007, the right to produce this cognac was sold to MMVZ (Inter-Republican Moscow Winery). In 2016, hard times began for MMVZ, the plant went bankrupt, and the Bastion brand was bought by BELUGA GROUP.

The motto under which the drink is produced sounds encouraging: “Bastion – the origin obliges!”.

Cognac “Bastion” five-year exposure was awarded the gold award received at the national competition “Absolute Quality-2008”.
