Barberry tincture on vodka, moonshine, alcohol

Vodka on barberry turns out to be refreshingly sour with a characteristic “candy” aroma of berries familiar from childhood. The taste can be softened by adding honey or sugar. We will consider a simple classic recipe.

The color of the tincture ranges from light yellow to bluish and depends on the variety of barberry berries: red, black, blue, etc. On a traditional red barberry, the drink turns burgundy. The alcohol base is vodka, diluted with water to 40-45% alcohol, well-purified moonshine (berries mask the distillate’s shortcomings well) or cheap cognac.

Ingredients:

  • dried barberry – 2 tablespoons (or 3 tablespoons of fresh berries);
  • vodka – 1 liter;
  • honey (sugar) – 1-4 tablespoons (to taste).

Honey softens the sourness of the berries. Sugar in this case does not act as effectively, instead it is better to use fructose or glucose.
