Recently, my colleagues and I went to a minimarket after work. I threw a bunch of bags of colorful candies into the basket, which caused the guys to burst out laughing. I started to be called a child who loves sweets. I said that this “childish joy” is quite capable of making us, adult men, happy too.

What ingredients and equipment will be needed
I recently learned an unusual recipe for moonshine on candy from my grandfather. It is prepared in a few hours, no complicated manipulations are required. At hand, you only need to have a glass jar, the main ingredients and auxiliary accessories – a hammer, gauze or bandage for filtering, a beautiful container in order to pour the finished product there.
There are only two components for moonshine:
- lollipops – 100 gr. (to tell you this recipe, I bought ordinary barberries for 20 rubles);
- moonshine – 0,5 l (the cost of home-made moonshine is within 50 rubles).
Under such an unusual moonshine, you can pick up any non-chocolate sweets. The main thing is that they should be in the texture of lollipops and preferably with a fruity taste.
I found a new destination for my favorite sweets from childhood.
In any supermarket you can buy a bag of assorted bright candies. They should be sorted by color and several types of alcohol lamps should be made at once. The price of bags of lollipops is on average from 70 to 110 rubles, so the cost of several bottles of tincture will be minimal.
The cooking process
I unwrap all the lollipops from the wrappers. Since I chose the easiest option – making an alcohol lamp on barberries, I don’t have to waste time sorting the candies by color. Lightly tap the candies with a hammer to crack them open.
I tried to make a tincture on whole candies – I didn’t really like it. If they are split, moonshine reacts better and faster with sweets and is saturated with their aroma and color.
I fall asleep fragments of candy in a jar, fill them with moonshine, stir. I tightly close the container, put it in a warm unlit place. I wait until the lollipops dissolve as much as possible in alcohol. This takes approximately 6-8 hours.
I told you the proportions of ingredients for one serving of moonshine. I always prepare a whole collection of barberry pleasure at once. Therefore, I never throw away bottles left over from juice or alcohol. They serve me as a container for insisting.
I put gauze on the neck of the bottle and pour the tincture into it. I close it, put it in the refrigerator and let it brew for at least a couple of hours.
What will be the result
I really like to make moonshine on lollipops, because tinctures are completely different from each other on different sweets. Therefore, before you buy lollipops, think about what result you want to get.
For example, according to my recipe, you will get a wonderful barberry drink. Almost like in childhood, but only on alcohol. Color light red, transparent. The aroma is like barberry lemonade, while the moonshine itself is not felt at all. To my surprise, I did not feel the characteristic fusel aftertaste, which I directly expected to find in moonshine tincture. It tastes like eating fruit sweets and washing them down with strong liquor.
Barberry in lozenges perfectly reacts with moonshine and the output is a transparent red tincture with an amazing taste.
As a result of simple and short manipulations, I received a delicious tincture. At cost came out in a penny. I spent only 0,5 rubles on 70 liters of barberry moonshine, excluding the cost of electricity, water and depreciation of the moonshine still.
How to serve and with what to use
Serve strictly chilled. By the way, I recommend keeping the moonshine constantly in the refrigerator, because a characteristic alcohol flavor begins to appear in the heat. If a guest unexpectedly came and you wanted to show off your creation in front of him, be sure to throw a piece of ice into the glass.
Moonshine on candy is not always obtained with a sweet aftertaste. For example, mine on barberries has a sour taste typical of these sweets. Therefore, it goes well with various snacks. If a light dessert meeting is planned, then milk chocolate, small confectionery (croissants, eclairs), fresh berries or fruit slices can be served under the tincture.
My serving of moonshine on lollipops for my wife. No frills, just a shot of barberry tincture and fresh berries. But she made an impression.
Barberry goes well with meat. I tried it with meat stew, and with fried pork, and with smoked legs. If you want a quick bite to eat and drink moonshine, you can take a slice of bread, sausage and cheese. Simple but exquisite.
