Bananas with edible peel appeared
 

Unusual bananas were grown by farmers in Japan. New fruits have a much thinner and less bitter rind than regular bananas.

The cultivation method is called “Freeze and wake up”. Scientists have tried to recreate conditions identical to the ice age. So, young banana plants are first placed in refrigerators at a temperature of -60 ° C, and then gradually the temperature in the chamber is brought to natural for planting and again planted in the ground.

Scientists have suggested that their actions activate an ancient part of DNA, thanks to which banana trees grow faster even in cold climates of Japan. And their assumptions came true, the growth time of the tree was reduced from 2 years to 4 months. 

Another advantage of the new fruits is their organic nature – because with this method of growing plants have no natural enemies and farmers do not need to use pesticides.

 

Fruits are high in sugar, which makes them much sweeter. Their aroma is richer, and the taste is reminiscent of pineapple. The peel itself is slightly more bitter than the flesh, but when biting off, the taste is somewhat averaged.
