Ballroom dancing latina instead of fitness

Tatiana Sycheva, the production editor of ELLE and an experienced user of various fitness programs, went to the sports club to test dance lessons.

I have been doing dancing for 10 years. Therefore, I met the editorial task to test a new Latin dance lesson with elements of ragga jam, dignified, with my head held high.

I went to class in excitement – on the phone I told the instructor that I had a decent dance training, and already doubted whether they would not treat me with all professional rigor. But the excitement was in vain. It is in this dance, a mixture of hot Latin and relaxed ragga, that not dance skill is required, but, as the teachers say, – feeling, feeling, mood.

So, I am in the ballroom, face to face with Ekaterina Beshnova, the leading instructor of Planet Fitness. She puts on reggae music, but with the rhythm of salsa, and we begin to dance, actively rotating our hips, shoulders, head and arms, all at a fast pace. I look at my watch – only 10 minutes have passed, and I am already pouring sweat in three streams. But Katya cheerfully says: “Well, warm-up finished, we will learn the composition. ” And then it turns out that choreographic training does not help me at all, and even sometimes interferes. Because, despite the standard Latin steps, most of the movements should be done on bent legs, relaxed as much as possible, and I automatically try to pull the toe and twist the feet. therefore the next 10 minutes are spentto teach me how to move like a rapper to the rhythm of reggae and catch the same “filing”.

We begin to dance, actively rotating our hips, shoulders, head and arms.

And then the most interesting thing begins: very sexy body movements are added to the rhythmic movements of the legs, either expressing an open appeal, then, on the contrary, proudly turning away, we all show our superiority over an imaginary rival, then we stand in the pose of a cabaret dancer, slightly pushing back the priest and bending one leg. “Higher breasts,” Katya shouts, “haughty look!”

And at times we begin to rotate our hips in a frenzy, like concubines performing a belly dance. Finally, the “filing” is caught, I spin with enthusiasm, forgetting about fatigue, the rhythm of the drums becomes louder, forcing me to enter a dance trance. The rest of the time flies by as a single moment. Wet but contented, still bent over, I crawl into the locker room. The next day, the same muscles of the thighs and buttocks, which we so diligently and without much success are trying to strain in the gym, are clearly felt, trying to find harmony. It turns out that all you have to do is dance ragga jam with a latina.

Men Jam Salsa – the hottest destination, brought, oddly enough, not from Jamaica, but from France. This school is new, the first master class for Russian choreographers was held quite recently, and so far only 2009 people have entered the Russian Ragga Jam Salsa Dance Team 6 (5 of them are Planet Fitness instructors). Since the name is patented, we conventionally call it Latin with ragga jam elements. In a year, representatives of the French school will return to assess the level of dance teaching by our choreographers.
