Bad neighbor: 15 stars who are scared to rent out
Sometimes it’s better to admire celebrities from a distance. And the bigger it is, the better.
Are you unhappy with those who live in your neighborhood? Everything is relative. Perhaps, after reading this material, in which we have collected stars with the glory of not the best neighbors, the people living next to you will seem like just angels in the flesh – with wings and a drill at the ready. Of course, not all of the celebrities on our list are desperately bad neighbors – some have received complaints and corrected their behavior. So there are some who are not completely lost among them – you can still rent out your apartment to some stars at your own peril and risk. But it’s better with a trial period!
Justin Bieber
The singer has been repeatedly complained about not only because of his love for noisy parties, but also because of his addiction to driving his sports cars around the area at a speed limit. One neighbor even told the press that Justin spat in his face when he asked the singer to stop these races around the block.
But the coolest Justin distinguished himself in January 2014, when he sneaked to the house of a neighbor with whom, apparently, he had disagreements, and showered his yard and front door with raw eggs. The singer was not even stopped by the fact that the neighbor went to the balcony – Bieber changed his target and began to throw food directly at his foe. A neighbor filmed what was happening and called the police, then estimating the damage from Bieber’s trick at 20 thousand dollars. Judging by the fact that the story did not receive a continuation, the singer managed to hush up this matter.
Drake
The rapper turned his house into a real hangout center, parties were going on one after another, and the guests were entertaining themselves so hard that he ended up buying a house next door! And what a pretty elegant solution to the problem. The house of neighbors, who constantly complained about the noise made by Drake’s guests, cost him 2 million 850 thousand dollars. Moreover, the singer himself prophetically described this situation in the song Where Ya At jointly with the rapper Future in 2015, which included the following lines: “I will buy a neighbor’s house if they complain about the noise.” No sooner said than done.
Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston
In May 2017, a neighbor of the then married couple Theroux and Aniston, a certain Norman Resnikov, filed a lawsuit against them, claiming that the couple was literally terrorizing him with their “rude treatment.” At the same time, he mentioned the dogs that run around the yard not on a leash and are constantly barking, as well as the fact that in the early morning from their house the rumble of heavy objects falling to the floor is constantly heard. However, Teru did not remain in debt and sued his neighbor for moral damages for 350 thousand dollars, claiming that he in every possible way harassed the workers who were repairing the house of Teru and Aniston. However, soon Justin had more serious problems than a lawsuit with a neighbor: in February 2018, he and Jennifer announced a divorce.
Rihanna
In 2009, a neighbor sued the singer for the fact that her drivers constantly blocked the entrance to his house with their cars and even drove into his lawn. He was also “extremely upset” that the bamboo trees planted by the singer’s gardener blocked his “beautiful view of Los Angeles.” Subsequently, it was reported that Rihanna settled this lawsuit in 2011, the details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Taylor Swift
The singer has received complaints from neighbors after she renovated the waterfront on her Rhode Island estate in 2013. In order to enclose her home with a high wall, she had to destroy several coastal rocks. Its representatives later claimed that this was done at the request of local officials. But worst of all, according to local residents, was that the singer deprived them of access to the coast, along which they loved to walk.
Paris Hilton
The socialite loved not only to go to parties, but also to arrange them at home. Her five-month romance with Doug Reinhardt in 2009 was seething with passion and numerous parties, which led to complaints from neighbors in the Hollywood Hills. There were so many complaints that the police had to threaten the couple with arrest if they did not become quieter.
David Schwimmer
The Friends star failed to make friends with neighbors when buying a house in New York in 2010. David bought a five-story mansion for $ 4,1 million, which was built in 1852, and, although it was planned to assign the status of a landmark to the building, he almost completely destroyed it, rebuilding in its place a 6-story building of 9 thousand square meters with an elevator and a terrace on roof. His neighbors expressed their displeasure by writing with a spray: “Ross (that was the name of Schwimmer’s hero in the TV series Friends. – Approx. Wday.ru) – not cool “on the fence of the construction site.
Madonna
The singer’s neighbors complained about her to the Department of Transport in March 2016. As reported by TMZ, the singer instructed her assistants to clear parking spaces for her and her guests in front of her $ 40 million New York mansion. They unauthorizedly installed signs “parking only for tenants” and put yellow markings on the places where anyone could park before.
Lenny Kravic
The singer found himself in an awkward situation in 2004 when the insurance company Amica Mutual sued him, demanding reimbursement of 334 thousand dollars – this is the amount the insurers paid to the neighbor below, whom Lenny was heavily flooded. As stated in the lawsuit, the singer was guilty of “catastrophic water damage” caused by a toilet “blocked by various materials.”
James Franco
At first, the actor’s neighbors in one of the Los Angeles neighborhoods were flattered that a star of this magnitude would live next to them. However, after James and fellow producer Vince Jolivette turned the house into a film set, their opinion changed – the entrances to their properties were often blocked by the actors’ trailers, as well as the cars of other crew members. Complaints did not lead to anything – American laws do not prohibit turning a private house into a film studio, so the neighbors could only powerlessly shake their fists and swear.
Robert Downey Jr.
In the mid-90s, the actor, as they say, caught the star, which eventually led to drug and alcohol addiction, from which, however, he subsequently successfully got rid of. In 1996, just in the midst of finding these addictions, Robert was arrested “for entering someone else’s home while under the influence of illegal drugs.” The police were called by his neighbors, who came to their home and found the actor sleeping there, who, apparently, just got mixed up at home. As Robert later recalled in an interview, according to neighbors, he “settled down very comfortably on their couch”. And the fact that he broke down the door – well, it doesn’t happen to anyone.
Sean Connery
The neighbors who lived in the apartment downstairs, in documents that were sent to court in 2005, called the actor “a rude, foul-mouthed fat old man.” The lawsuit alleged that Sean in his New York apartment “constantly listens to music at full volume and stomps very loudly.” Also, the neighbors of the star were not satisfied with the renovation, which was started by the former James Bond: according to them, he became “the cause of noise, leaks and problems with rats.” Apparently, Connery’s character also seemed unbearable to the rodents, and they moved to his neighbors.
Sylvester Stallone
Sly was the subject of a lawsuit due to problems with the drainage system in the courtyard of his house. In 1993, his neighbor Vin Scully demanded from him through the court to compensate for the damage caused to his home by rainwater gushing from the yard of Stallone’s house in Los Angeles. The court ruled to recover from the actor 69 thousand dollars in damages.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin
In 2013, the actress and her then-musician husband placed a massive 2,7-meter-high gate in front of their house. However, according to the established norms in that area, it was allowed to put gates only 1,8 meters high. One of the neighbors was so angry that he filed a complaint against the star couple, in which, as a positive example, he cited the houses of other star neighbors – Harrison Ford and Oliver Stone, in front of which a gate of the proper height was installed.
Chris Brown
The controversial rapper once again made headlines in August 2016 when a woman who claimed he had threatened her with a gun called the police. On that day, many of his neighbors wanted him to move from their area, because the arrest of the artist was very noisy. One of Brown’s neighbors, Los Angeles Lakers basketball star Nick Young, even posted a video of a police helicopter hovering over a house on Instagram, adding the commentary to the video: “Chris Brown, you need to move. Come on, get out of our area! ” The rapper was arrested, but soon released on bail of $ 250, while he denied all charges.
