In the course of the study, experts proved that toasting bread in a toaster can expose a person to the same exposure to toxins as if they were standing near a busy highway.
The conclusions of the scientists are supported by an experiment, in which the level of air pollution in a house was estimated at just over 100 square meters. The house was equipped with special sensors that recorded a doubling of air pollution when 2 slices of bread were toasted in a toaster in the kitchen.
Amazingly, at this moment, the air in the house becomes twice as dirty as in a large metropolis, and 3 times higher than the safety limit set by the WHO.
Scientists noticed that if the bread was burnt, the level of contamination increased even more. And it’s not just the toasting bread itself, the bread crumbs at the bottom of the appliance played a big role in air poisoning.
What to do?
It is worth paying attention to this information, first of all, for people with lung problems and diseases of the cardiovascular system. When toasting bread in a toaster, they and everyone else should ensure that the air outflows (turn on the ventilation, open the windows) and do not overcook the bread.
