Bacteria in herring fillets a’la matias. GIS warns

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate issued a public warning regarding food. Listeria monocytogenes has been detected in a batch of Herring fillet a’la matias, he informed on Friday, September 18.

Listeria monocytogenes bacteria were found in the batch of the product Herring fillet ala matias, produced by Zakład Przetwórstwa Rybnego PANIX Sp. z o. o. from Silesia.

The GIS reported that the bacteria were detected in two out of five samples of the a’la matias herring fillet from an official food control batch.

In lot 012320 165/27.09.2020 with the best before dates: 1/0,4/28.09.2020 (package size: 0,5 kg and 2,5 kg), 4/01.10.2020/0,4 (package size: 0,5 kg, XNUMX kg, XNUMX kg) and XNUMX/XNUMX. XNUMX (packaging size: XNUMX kg, XNUMX kg).

The GIS issued a recommendation for consumers not to consume the above-mentioned product batches. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can lead to a disease called listeriosis. Contact your doctor if you experience symptoms of illness after consuming the product covered by this message.

GIS also informed that the producer informed its recipients about the detected threat. Disinfection, additional employee training was carried out at the production plant, and the frequency of sampling for laboratory tests was increased. It was indicated that an investigation would be carried out to determine whether Listeria monocytogenes was present in the raw material at the time of entry into the establishment or whether contamination had occurred during production.
