Before leaving, a quick visit to the doctor is essential to check that your child has no ear problems, especially otitis.

Clean his nose before take off and landing.

To spare his little ears during take-off and landing, give him food, drink, or just his pacifier so that he swallows regularly.

To occupy Baby, remember to take games, soft toys, books, drinks, snacks …

Put your little one in confidence in the familiarizing with other passengers. He will feel much better and your fellow travelers may be more accepting of his tweets… and his crying!

There are no special safety measures to take (and no seatbelt to put on), because well low risk of accidents. For toddlers, the ideal is to put them to bed in a bassinet. For the older ones, watch out for movement in the corridors because of the risk of falls!

If your train has a dining car, it is better to heat up baby bottles and baby food “Off-peak hours “. Otherwise, beware of the crowds!

By traveling during Baby’s sleeping hours, time will pass faster for him and you will save energy searching for multiple ploys to occupy him.

Think of bring a towel : you can lie down near you and change it, when there is no more suitable place …

Take something to keep Baby entertained during the trip and preferably place it beside the window.

In addition, some trains have a wagon dedicated to children: check with the SNCF.

Before leaving, remember to consult your pediatrician: he will tell you which medications to use in case of seasickness possible.

– Beware of insects too ! In your travel pharmacy, remember to take a preventive cream and one that heals and relieves.

You are required by law to transport Baby in a specialized car seat (marked E, which certifies compliance with European standards).

This seat must be suitable for the weight and height of the child. Cot or rear-facing seat up to 18 months (13 kg), harness seat or shield seat between 9 months and 4 years (9 to 18 kg), booster seat from 4 years (over 15 kg).

Even for a short trip, Baby should always travel in his seat. Never take it on your knees.

If he is in the back of the car, always empty the rear shelf so that road maps and hats do not fall on his head!

Choosing a car seat comfortable and practical

The 0-9 month seat: opt for a seat with sufficiently padded edges, Baby will be well protected in the event of an accident. And what good naps in prospect!

The seat 9 months-4 years: if you have the choice, preferably buy a seat with washable cover.

If you have to go to a mountainous area, Baby may get sick at every turn. Better to consult your pediatrician before departure, he will tell you how to remedy it.

For his health, also avoid smoking in the car.

Never leave it in the car during a stop: there is a risk of heatstroke. And think of the sun visor in summer.

The highway code recommends one stop every two hours. Do more when Baby is awake, he can change positions and get some air, and you can rest too!

In an inclined seat, Baby will more easily find the best position to fall asleep.

If you are traveling alone with Baby, and you do not have an airbag in the front of your car, place your little end next to you (always back to the road). You can check that everything is fine, without taking any risks!

And especially, never disturb your rearview mirror to be able to keep an eye on him: the danger comes above all from the road.
