The child is growing and needs good nutrition to be healthy and strong. After the age of 1 year, the question arises whether it is worth giving the baby food from the common table or sticking to the children’s menu.

How to feed a one-year-old baby

At this age, it is necessary to significantly expand the child’s menu. It should be varied, but still safe and useful. The best way to cook is stewing, boiling, steaming and baking. No fried food.

After 1 year, the baby should not only eat puréed food, but also learn to chew. He needs to be served dishes with small pieces of food. This will allow you to gradually expand your diet, which is very important. If you give monotonous food, then in the future the child will refuse unfamiliar dishes.

The following foods should be included in the diet:

  • by-products;
  • fatty meats – pork, lamb, goose and duck;
  • river and sea fish – hake or pollock;
  • vegetables and fruits, including exotic ones – kiwi, oranges, mango;
  • cereals;
  • children’s dairy and fermented milk products – milk, sour cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, butter;
  • vegetable fats;
  • not hot spices and seasonings – coriander, cumin.

Introduce cottage cheese, soufflé, pancakes, jam, marmalade into the diet, but you cannot offer cakes and pastries. You should not give a child at this age boiled sausage and sausages.

Introduce new products gradually, starting from 5-10 g. Between feedings, let the baby drink plain water, tea, rosehip broth, compote, jelly or juice. The kid should drink a lot of fluids.

Approximate menu for a child at 1 year and 2 months

The baby needs to be fed 4-5 times, the break between feedings is 4 hours. The most high-calorie should be lunch, then dinner, breakfast and afternoon tea.

Menu example:

  • for breakfast, cook porridge or any protein dish, for example, an omelet, and also give tea or compote, a roll with butter;
  • for lunch, vegetable or cereal soup, borsch, meatballs with mashed potatoes, salad with fresh vegetables are suitable;
  • for an afternoon snack, serve milk soup, cottage cheese or pancakes, tea;
  • porridge, squash or potato casserole, boiled fish are suitable for dinner.

Before going to bed, offer the crumb milk mixture or kefir.

The daily volume of food, excluding liquid, is 1-1,2 liters. A child over the age of 1 year should not drink more than 100 ml of juice per day or eat more than 100 g of fruit puree.

The state of the baby’s digestive system and, accordingly, his health depends on the quality of the products and the correctness of the introduction of new dishes. Don’t experiment, stick to nutritional advice.
