Baby products: useless shopping for newborns
What manufacturers will not come up with to cash in on young parents.
For the long-awaited baby, parents want to buy all the best. And manufacturers are happy to convince that their products are simply vital! But is it really so? Sometimes you run the risk of spending a fortune on absolutely unnecessary things. Save your money, they will still come in handy.
One Korean daddy named Tony Park patented a device that can, instead of parents, “sniff” their baby’s diapers and tell them when it’s time to change their baby’s clothes. After all, it is not always convenient to “unpack” the baby to check how he is doing there. And the habit of parents to sniff the baby’s bottom from the outside looks very strange.
The system is a small Bluetooth-sensor that attaches to the diaper, and not inside, but outside. So it does not need to be washed every time. The device analyzes changes in temperature or air composition, and sends information about the contents of the diaper to the parents’ smartphone – for this, you need to install a special application. Unless he himself does not change the child’s clothes, but we can somehow cope with this ourselves.
Is the device useful? Maybe. It also depends on the price. However, there are tons of bells and whistles on sale that cost a lot of money and do little to no good.
This is straight lordship! They say that the kids are so sensitive that they cannot stand contact with a cold napkin. Manufacturers of heaters assure that this device is especially necessary at night. He rubbed his ass with a warm cloth, and the child, who had “renewed” the diaper, did not even wake up. A miracle device costs from 1000 to 5000 rubles.
From my own experience, a cold wet wipe was certainly not the reason why my baby son did not sleep at night. But if you are so concerned about the temperature of the wipes, place the package on the battery or warm it up in your hands.
For mothers who are breastfeeding, this is generally a useless device. Up to 6 months, children eat only milk, it is not even necessary to supplement with water. But even babies on artificial feeding will not need it. After all, the mixture for the child must be freshly prepared. An exception is expressed mother’s milk, which can be stored in refrigerators and even in the freezer. But you can easily warm it up by dipping the bottle into a pot of boiling water. Save between RUB 800 and RUB 6000.
The run-up in prices for the device is enormous. You can buy a simple one for 700 rubles or walk up to the fancy, ultraviolet one for 15000 rubles. However, a sterilizer is again an absolutely unnecessary thing for breastfed babies. And bottles for mixes and teats can just as well be boiled in a saucepan or simply filled with boiling water. The only thing that will come in handy is the dish tongs so as not to burn yourself.
Believe me, your wrist will determine the temperature that is comfortable for eating just as well. And it will not misrepresent the testimony. Meanwhile, there is a thermometer for food from 300 to 5000 rubles.
No smell, no dirt. The price of the issue is from 1500 to 9000 rubles. In this case, you will have to constantly buy replacement cassettes. Do you need it? Much easier to tie a dirty diaper in a bag and throw it in a bin with a lid.
Doctors will weigh your baby all the days that you spend in the hospital. And then – every month at the pediatrician’s appointment.
However, at first I really needed this device. The baby had digestive problems and was not gaining weight well. Close control was important. Scales cost from 2000 to 50000 rubles. I got out of the situation by renting them. 300 rubles a month is a completely different matter.
Special mattress for babies up to 2-3 months with cushions or sides. It fixes the child in a position on its side so that it does not roll over in a dream and does not choke if it spits up. Such mattresses cost from 1100 to 5500 rubles. And a rolled-up diaper or a towel under the back – at most 200 rubles.
First, it takes up a lot of space. Secondly, a baby from this table will grow up in a few months. For me personally, changing diapers on a wide, spacious bed was not at all difficult. And now these tables cost from 2000 to 40000 rubles.
A soft seat with a table on wheels, which costs from 1500 to 7500 rubles. Parents think that with a walker, the child will learn to walk faster.
In fact, the baby does not distribute his weight correctly, often the child tilts to the side, which deteriorates the posture. He does not know how to keep balance, squat. In addition, when a baby tries to walk on his own without any walker, he learns to fall, and this is important.
Jumpers are a kind of underpants on spring-loaded pendants that are attached to the door or to the ceiling. The children are delighted, of course. And mom also has free time for personal affairs. However, the child, pushing off the floor, does not step on his full foot, but on his toes. This will become a problem a little later when the baby learns to walk. It also happens that the child, swinging on the jumpers, beats against the jambs. The mount may break off altogether, and the baby will then collapse to the floor. Well, this rather harmful thing costs from 400 to 5000 rubles.
The purchase is justified only if there is a shower cabin in the house. Is your bath normal? So let the child splash there. Of course, on your hands or with a special circle under your head. Dr. Komarovsky also calls for bathing in a regular bath. A well-known pediatrician says: a baby bath limits the movement of a baby, and in an adult he will splash with great pleasure. In addition, a baby bath takes up a lot of space in an apartment, and costs from 390 rubles to 31000.
I once spent on such, collecting the bag in the hospital. As a result, the mittens constantly flew off, and the baby slept without them. At home, I immediately cut the child’s nails, putting the anti-scratches in the far drawer. The price of mittens is from 200 to 500 rubles for two pairs.
You can buy the simplest and most modest one for 800 rubles or the luxurious one with ruffles and frills for 24000 rubles. But you will need this thing only once – when you are discharged. Wouldn’t it be better to wrap your baby in a cute blanket and tie it up with a ribbon? Nurses usually help to swaddle the baby in the hospital at discharge.
It costs from 680 rubles to 7700. What is its use, I do not know. But the canopy copes with the role of the dust collector perfectly.
For all these useless things you will spend from 13370 rubles to 211200 rubles.
