Looking at the photos of the little ones placed in a glass tube, you get the impression that it is a kind of a strange joke or a photomontage. None of these things! The photos show a real machine used by medics around the world.

The Pigg-O-Stat is a device that allows you to take a chest X-ray. As you know, radiation can be harmful, so you should only aim it at a specific area. In addition, you have to stay still for a few seconds while taking an X-ray. Everyone who has had to hold their breath at least once, waiting for an x-ray of the skull, teeth or a broken arm, knows it.

Even adults have a hard time staying still. All the more, you cannot expect it from babies who do not yet understand such messages. Therefore, it was necessary to devise a machine that would be a kind of “caftan”, preventing the torso from twisting or waving arms.

On social media you can find quite a few pictures of children who have been “trapped” in Pigg-O-Stat. Parents usually share them in order to make observers smile. For many, the sight of toddlers with annoyed or surprised expressions is funny. Especially if it is known that they are not being hurt, but only a medical procedure.

In the case of the Pigg-O-Statu, however, the most important thing is that it simply does the job. The child can actually be immobilized in it for as long as to be able to properly take an X-ray image. Later, the little one is released from the «machine» without any health damage.
