Azofoska is an effective mineral fertilizer, its main charm lies in its successful application on any soil in all climatic zones. Perhaps this explains its wide distribution, and the effect is best seen on poor soils.
Operating principle
As the second name of this mineral complex suggests, its active elements are represented by nitrate and ammonium forms. It is this form that facilitates the absorption of the drug by plants. An excellent result is shown by its use in the garden, in the garden and in the flower bed. This fertilizer strengthens the root system, activates growth processes, increases the ability of crops to withstand such unpleasant factors as frost or drought.
After applying azofoska, the yield increases, the number of possible diseases decreases, and the result is an increase in the nutritional value and an increase in the shelf life of vegetables. The preparation has the form of small granules of white or beige color, it is used as the main fertilizer on any soils. Suitable for both open ground and greenhouses, very important for seedlings.
Manufacturers try not to advertise the second name of the fertilizer – nitroammophoska, because many are afraid of the very word “nitrates”. Indeed, with excessive use, they are able to accumulate, and then from the soil to get into the edible part of the plants. To prevent this from happening, you must carefully study the instructions before use and do not exceed the rate of fertilizer application.
Description of the preparation
The complex mineral fertilizer azophoska has another name – nitroammofoska. It consists of:
- nitrogen,
- phosphorus,
- potassium,
- sulfur.
Different brands of this agrochemical differ in that the amount of nitrogen varies from 16% to 26%, this percentage is determined by the amount of the mineral in a particular soil and the need for a particular plant. That is, the brand of fertilizer is chosen, knowing the soil and the plant that needs top dressing. Nitrogen is necessary for a plant at all stages of its growth, since it is involved in all life processes.
Phosphorus is also very necessary for absolutely all plant crops, especially at the beginning, when rapid growth occurs. Its content can be from 4% to 20%. Potassium is also used by all plants, it is involved in ion exchange reactions. Different brands of azofoska contain from 5% to 18% potassium.
Least of all, this mineral complex contains sulfur – only 2,6 – 4%, but this is the optimal amount that is enough for plants. Most often, 2 brands of azophoska are in demand. One represents an equal amount of the three main elements (16:16:16), and the second nitrogen is noticeably more (22:11:11). This indicates a large number of cultivated lands with similar characteristics.

Application rules
Azofoska universal complex fertilizer enriches any soil. Heavy dense soil is fertilized in the fall after harvesting, and if the site has light soil, then it is usually applied in the spring during spring digging. But the cold land cannot be enriched with it: a lack of heat can provoke the accumulation of nitrates by the upper fertile layers. Therefore, it is better to plan the spring application of the mineral complex for May – when the earth has warmed up, and the moisture is still preserved. And it is advisable to spend autumn on a September day – for the same reasons.
A reasonable alternation of fertilizers is called upon to protect the soil from the accumulation of nitrate compounds. If for two years in a row the land was fertilized with azofoska, then for the third year only light organic dressings should be used. Attention: manure also contains nitrates! At the classical dosage (16:16:16), 2-3 tablespoons of granules are applied under fruit trees in spring, with general plowing of the garden, 1-2 tablespoons per 1 m XNUMX is enough2.
When planting seedlings of pepper, eggplant, tomatoes, each well should receive 0,5 teaspoons of the drug. Potatoes are fertilized in 2 ways. In the spring, 2 tablespoons are applied for every 1 m2 or in summer 2 liquid top dressings: 2 weeks after germination and after flowering. Nitrogen fortified composition (22:11:11) is used in emergency cases or in intensive agriculture. The introduction of such a complex can revive the most tired earth.
A brand with a reduced amount of phosphorus (19:9:19) is used in the middle lane on soils poor in phosphorus. It is also effective for warm areas with an arid climate, where seedlings must be fed with it. Nitroammophoska is successfully used by industrial farms with an average application rate of 40 g per 1 m2, usually use fertilizers of domestic or Finnish production.
How to store azofoska
It is better not to buy the drug more than necessary. The printed package must be used within 6 months, after this period the fertilizer completely loses its qualities and becomes useless. In a sealed bag of dense polyethylene without moisture and air, the shelf life is extended up to 18 months.
Azofoska itself is not dangerous to humans, it does not burn and does not explode under normal conditions. But when heated to +200оC (which can happen in a fire) begins to release poisonous gas. And its dust in large accumulations can spontaneously explode.
To prevent this from happening, you need to monitor and prevent the accumulation of dust, if, nevertheless, it so happened that a certain amount has collected, it must be moistened thoroughly with a spray bottle. Then the dust dissolved in water can be used as an easily digestible fertilizer. If you are offered nitrophoska, feel free to take it – it’s almost the same. The only difference is that nitrogen is contained only in the nitrate form, and not in the nitrate and ammonium forms, as in azofoska.
