Avocado, mango, persimmon, kiwi: how to grow them at home

Many southern fruits have a double benefit. You can eat, and then grow a houseplant

Only seeds and seeds from ripe, healthy fruits are suitable for planting. The soil can be bought in the store, the best is the one that is recommended for seedlings of vegetable crops. Spill it with a solution of potassium permanganate or at least boiling water for disinfection, even if the label says that the soil has been treated. The seeds and seeds are first planted in a small pot, and then, as they grow, they are transferred to a larger container. Tropical and subtropical plants love light, moisture and warmth. The best side to grow is the east side.

Avocado

The avocado seed has a dense skin. It is not easy for a sprout to break through such a coating, especially if the bone has lain down a little and dried out. Place it on damp soil or sphagnum moss for germination and place in a warm, draft-free place. The air temperature should not fall below 20 °, and the soil should not fall below 25 °, otherwise the bone may die. To better retain heat and humidity, it is advisable to cover the avocado with a jar or glass. You will have to wait more than a month. Make sure that the substrate does not dry out. As soon as a sprout appears on one side, and white roots appear on the other, you can plant a bone in a pot so that half of it rises above the surface of the earth. Further – regular watering and feeding. Many take out plants to the country in the summer. They grow well there and feel great. But in the fall they have to be returned back. And then they begin to suffer from a lack of moisture and light and can die. Therefore, it is better to leave them in the conditions to which they are accustomed.

An avocado grown in captivity does not bear fruit, but it will delight you with its original shape and does not require complex maintenance.

Mango

A flat, curved mango seed should be placed in the ground so that the junction of the fruit with the stalk faces down. If laid flat, nothing will sprout. Planting depth – 2–3 cm. Water regularly and observe temperature conditions. A shoot will appear in 3-4 weeks. It is like sprouting beans. The difference is that the mango does not throw the cotyledon to the surface, but leaves it in the soil and receives nutrients from it for a while. If properly cared for, a plant can grow into a large tree.

Persimmon

The bone is planted to a depth of 1 cm. It is better to put it on the edge. The pot should be placed in a plastic bag or under glass and put in a warm place. Seedlings can be expected in 20 days, then active growth will begin. After a year, you can get a tree 30–35 cm high. Persimmon is a deciduous plant, so do not be alarmed if it sheds its foliage in winter. At this time, it must be placed in a cool room with a temperature of + 6 … + 8 °, for example, on a loggia. As soon as the buds begin to swell, the persimmon can be returned to warmth. The soil must be periodically moistened, and the plant must be sprayed.

Persimmon grown in a room does not bear fruit, but if the plant is cut and formed into a crown, then you can get a beautiful compact tree.

Kiwi

The seeds for planting must be black. They must be well washed from the pulp. This is not easy to do. Squeeze the pulp seeds onto a saucer. Let it sit at room temperature for a few days to make the mucus go bad. The seeds will not be damaged and can be easily washed out. Then dry and sow to a depth of 1 cm. After germination, the plants will have to be thinned out, leaving no more than two in a pot with a diameter of 9 cm. As the plants grow, they should be transplanted into a larger container. Kiwi is a vine, so take care of the support afterwards. For the winter, the plant sheds its leaves. You are unlikely to wait for the fruits, as the plant needs pollination, but with proper care you can enjoy flowering.
