Beginners and even experienced gardeners and gardeners have many questions about how to perform certain work on the site. We will show you how to solve some of the problems.
October 7 2015
In the spring, they plant sea buckthorn, cherry, plum. In autumn – all early awakening trees and shrubs (rose, gooseberry, honeysuckle, currant). Apple trees and pears can be planted in both spring and fall. One caveat: autumn planting is best completed by October 15th. We bought the seedlings later, dig in, that is, put them in a trench at an angle of 45 degrees, covering not only the roots with a thick layer of earth, but also most of the trunk.
Shrubs are planted at a distance of 2 meters from each other, apples and pears – 4-5 meters, plums and cherries – 2,5-3 meters. Planting holes for shrubs are dug 0,5 by 0,5 meters in size, for trees – a meter by a meter. The roots of the seedlings must be covered with a nutritious earthen mixture consisting of dung humus (2-3 years old, completely decomposed), compost and sod land. Or add ready-made fertilizer sold in stores to the soil. The root collar is buried 3-5 cm in the ground. Then the seedlings are watered abundantly, and the soil around them is covered with a thick layer of compost, peat, sawdust.
It is imperative to protect young plantings from rodents. To do this, it is necessary to lay out waterproof baits next to the seedlings, for example, “Efa” briquettes, as well as burdock thorns, coriander seeds. The trunks of all trees must be overlaid with spruce branches (needles down), tied with twine, and closed with roofing material from above. All this will save not only voles from mice, but also from frost.
In order for the onion to give a harvest in early spring, it must be planted on October 15-25. It is necessary to plant exceptionally small onions, literally the size of a marigold (experts call this a wild oat). A large set is not suitable for autumn planting – not feathers will grow from it, but arrows. The wild oat is planted to a depth of at least 3 centimeters, and the surface of the garden bed is covered with a layer of peat or humus.
To prevent the roses from freezing in winter, they must be covered with 5-7 layers of coniferous spruce branches, and on top – with sphagnum marsh moss. Experienced gardeners also cover the stalk with an inverted plastic bottle with the neck cut off. If there is no moss and spruce branches, fill the plantings with a pile of sawdust or shavings, and cover with a piece of roofing material on top.
