Specialists from the PRC recently presented a report on the autopsy of the first person who died as a result of coronavirus infection. Doctors published their findings in the Journal of Forensic Medicine.

They examined the body of an 85-year-old man who was hospitalized in January 2020 with multiple cerebral infarction.

At first, the symptoms of a dangerous virus did not appear in any way, but after 10 days the patient developed a high fever, and he himself complained of discomfort in his throat.

Doctors discovered an infection in the lungs of a man, and three days later they confirmed the diagnosis of COVID-2019. Unfortunately, it was not possible to save the patient. He died 28 days after admission to the hospital.

Finally, the doctors finished the autopsy and decided: the virus infects the deep parts of the respiratory tract and pulmonary alveoli. The disease is similar to SARS. According to experts from the PRC, it is still difficult to say whether the coronavirus affects other organs of the body. They will need some more time to carry out these studies.

The good news, however, is that lung fibrosis and hardening in COVID-2019 is not as severe as in SARS.
