Author’s cocktail based on gin “Checkered Plaid”

Checkered Plaid is a gin-based author’s cocktail, a strong, warm short that creates a cozy, peaceful atmosphere and sets your thoughts in a positive way.

I have long wanted to share my favorite cocktail recipe with the readers of The Rum Diary. In the original, it is a strong short without ice, the ingredients are common – gin, syrup, lemon juice, vanilla and cinnamon, the preparation is simple, especially if you do not bother with decorations, and the result is excellent. This warm, “lamp” cocktail I also named warmly and homely – “Checkered Plaid”.

I immediately apologize for the quality of the photos – they prepared a drink at a small corporate party of “Rum” and made a mistake – they had to first make a cocktail, and then try “Crème de Cassis” and other delicious goodies by Artem Gudimov. In general, everything was a little blurry. Nevertheless, the taste of the drink was highly appreciated by the aesthetic public.

Ingredients for the Checkered Plaid Cocktail:

  • Gin – 100 ml;
  • Sugar syrup – 15 ml;
  • Cinnamon – one large stick;
  • Vanilla liqueur – 15 ml. or vanilla extract – 10 drops (you can just add a little vanillin when preparing the syrup);
  • Lemon – juice from one slice;
  • Caramel or caramel topping – for decoration.

Preparation:

  1. A cocktail can be made in almost any container, the best is a classic old fashion glass, you can also use a cognac glass. The container must be decorated in advance so that the caramel has time to harden slightly.
  2. We make a square mesh of topping or caramel – the same cage that justifies the name of the cocktail.
  3. Strain the juice of one large lemon slice into a shaker, add vanilla liqueur, bar sugar syrup and gin, mix everything.
  4. The drink is carefully poured into the glass so as not to damage the cell, and gently stirred with a cinnamon stick. If the stick has the correct shape, it can be used instead of a straw.

The Checkered Plaid cocktail is drunk in small sips, in a calm and peaceful atmosphere, without haste and fuss. As for me, this is the best drink when you want to drink in splendid isolation, to a good classical novel and light jazz. “Checkered Plaid” calms, tunes in to positive thoughts, it envelops you with its soft warmth, gives you a feeling of security and that the past day was not lived in vain.
