Atywia – composition, action, indications, dosage, price, side effects

Atywia is a popular contraceptive, enjoying a constantly growing trust of Polish women and doctors. The action of Ativa is based on the hormones contained in its composition, which affect the functioning of various mechanisms in the woman’s body, eliminating or significantly reducing the chance of getting pregnant.

Atywia – composition and operation

Atywia is classified as one of the so-called two-component preparations. It contains synthetic steroid hormones: ethinylestradiol (belonging to the group of estrogens) and dienogest (belonging to the group of progestogens). Activia is a monophasic agent – the hormone content in each tablet is the same throughout the entire period of taking Astiva. This distinguishes it from multiphase contraceptives, in which the hormone content changes while taking them.

The operation of Ativa is based on several mechanisms:

  1. The maturation of Graaf’s follicles is inhibited, which stops the entire ovulation process.
  2. The properties of the lining of the inner surface of the uterus, called the endometrium, are changing. Thanks to this, in the event of fertilization, the so-called implementation, i.e. implantation of the egg within the uterine mucosa, does not take place.
  3. The properties of the mucus produced in the cervix are changed, thanks to which the movement of sperm is significantly impeded.
  4. Motor activity in the fallopian tubes decreases.

Atywia – for whom?

Atywia is a product recommended for women who want to effectively prevent the situation of getting pregnant. Activia is used less frequently to treat acne in women for whom treatment with antibiotics or topical treatments has not been successful.

However, Atywia, like any drug, is not intended for everyone. It is not recommended to use Atyiva in situations where the patient:

  1. is allergic to any of the ingredients,
  2. suspects you or is undergoing treatment of a VTE,
  3. has an acquired or genetic predisposition to develop venous thromboembolism,
  4. expects a long surgical procedure associated with permanent immobilization or significant inhibition of motor activity,
  5. has or suspects the possibility of arterial thromboembolism (including heart attack, angina, cerebrovascular disease),
  6. suffer from neurological migraines,

  8. has had a serious liver disease (for example, cancer)
  9. is at risk of developing cancer of the reproductive organs,
  10. is pregnant.

It is not recommended to use Atyiva in parallel with drugs such as paritaprevir, ombitasvir, ritonavir and dasabuvir. In addition, it is worth mentioning the relationship of Ativa with weight gain. Weight gain is not a side effect of taking this drug, but if you gain weight significantly after you start taking Astiva, consult your doctor about it.

How is Atywia taken?

Atywia is a drug that is administered orally in the form of tablets. It is recommended to take Atyiva regularly, at fixed times. The initial period of treatment with Atywia is one month. One tablet is taken daily for the first 21 days, and the drug is discontinued for the next 7 days. After this period, you should take Atywia regularly, as prescribed by your doctor.

Doctors highly appreciate the effectiveness of Atywia. However, it depends on many individual factors, such as the functioning of the digestive system, the course of the absorption process and the influence of other medications taken by the patients.

Atywia is a drug that is dispensed only with the consent of a physician, therefore it is currently not possible to purchase Astiva without a prescription.
