Many are familiar with the situation when the arrival of a new employee creates tension and disrupts the work of the entire team. This phenomenon was studied by psychologists William Phelps and Terence Mitchell (William Felps and Terence Mitchell) from the School of Business at the University of Washington (USA). In their opinion, a “bad guy” is someone who provokes others to criticize, makes offensive jokes, and skillfully shifts part of his work to colleagues. A study of 51 teams showed that, being smart, experienced and “unsinkable”, this employee is able to ruin the team, provoking conflicts and annoying people. The manager’s task is to recognize him among the applicants, and if he is nevertheless hired, then isolate him in a separate office (if he is valuable as a professional) or … fire him.
