Do you play basketball, dance or do martial arts? There are many great sports out there and atopy shouldn’t stop you from having fun! Here is a small guide to skin care for true champions.
Pluck!
Nothing compares to gliding through the water like a fish. However, the skin needs care both in the pool and in sea water, which can provoke an exacerbation of atopy. After swimming, take a shower (try using LIPIKAR SYNDET AP++) and apply a little balm to your skin.
Special clothing
When you play football, do judo or ballet, you need to wear a special sports uniform. Often it is made of polyester, which can additionally irritate the skin and, unlike cotton, it does not provide airflow to the skin. If your sportswear is not made of cotton, try wearing a cotton tank top or T-shirt underneath to protect your skin.
If you do not have a special uniform, we advise you to choose loose shorts and a T-shirt. Such clothing provides coolness and access of sunlight to the areas of skin affected by atopy. But if the sun is hot, don’t forget to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, and wear a hat and sunglasses!
Work in the sweat of your face
Any sport requires a gradual warm-up. In order not to overheat too quickly and cause itching on the skin, do not forget to take short breaks to drink and cool down. During the break, it is useful to refresh the skin with a thermal water spray. If sweat stays on the skin for too long, it can aggravate atopy. Wash it off under a warm shower (about 32 degrees for 5-10 minutes), pat your skin dry with a cotton towel and be sure to apply a balm after a shower.
Sometimes it’s better to sit aside
Sports and exercise are good for health and mood. But sometimes it’s better to cheer up friends from the outside. For example:
– on a very hot or very cold day;
– with infection of the focus of atopy;
– when the skin is combed to the blood;
– with exacerbation of atopy (several days when the skin is very itchy).
Secret weapon in your pocket
When doing any sport, keep the LIPIKAR STICK AP+ in your pocket. If the skin itches, anoint it to soothe it.
Remember Dr. Crocodile’s golden rule: “Don’t let atopy be an obstacle. Find a way around it!” So, now nothing prevents you from becoming a champion … Or just enjoy training.
