Atherosclerosis is one of the most dangerous diseases of the circulatory system. It develops extremely slowly, and the first symptoms are often underestimated and not noticed at all. This is a huge mistake – the detection of the first symptoms – and further diagnosis towards atherosclerosis can protect us from the progression of the disease, further diseases and diseases. The heart and circulatory system need proper care!
The first symptoms of atherosclerosis
First of all, middle-aged people should be particularly attentive, where this disease most often makes itself felt. The first symptoms are not strict associated with the circulatory system, as we might think. What we feel is chronic fatigue, faster fatigue when walking and everyday activity, feeling pain in the legs. In addition, interestingly, the first symptoms of atherosclerosis are also problems with remembering and concentrating attention!
- Attention! Untreated atherosclerosis: Untreated atherosclerosis can even lead to amputation of the foot or leg. It is also associated with much higher and more frequent heart attacks and strokes!
What is the essence of the disease? How does atherosclerosis arise?
Atherosclerosis and cholesterol are closely related. The disease is caused by the slow closing of the lumen of the arteries, which are “plugged” with other components circulating in the blood: calcium salts, fats, proteins. Of great importance in the formation of atherosclerosis is cholesterol, which we divide into “good” and “bad”. Good types of cholesterol help in better digestion, increase the production of hormones and help the body absorb vitamin D. “Bad” cholesterol does not have any health-promoting functions, and can accumulate in excess and accumulate in blood vessels, which leads to their failure, the formation of plaques atherosclerosis and finally – to the diagnosis of atherosclerosis.
Atherosclerosis and leg and foot health
Why is atherosclerosis most often associated with leg disease? Because cholesterol is much more often deposited in the arteries that supply blood to the legs and feet. Equally often, the disease also affects the arteries of the heart and carotid arteries, which supply blood to the brain.
How to protect yourself from disease?
First of all, you should properly compose your new, healthy diet. There should be less fat in it. Less often prepare dishes in a pan by frying them. Food should be boiled or steamed more often. It should be completely excluded from the diet of the so-called “junk” food, heavy meals, rich in fat.
The right amount of physical activity that we provide the body during the week is also very important. Let’s prepare a training plan, at least three days a week, let’s go for longer walks combined with light gymnastics, choose cycling, fitness, jogging or dogtrekking – anything that will give us joy!
