From what age you can give soups to children depends on what has already been introduced into complementary foods and what is included in the dish. It is also necessary to follow the recommendations of pediatricians so as not to harm the child’s body.

What vegetables to introduce first

Soup for small children is a liquid puree that contains useful and necessary substances. Soup should be added to the menu gradually and in small quantities.

At what age and what kind of soup can be given to children depends on the products introduced into the diet.

From 4-5 months, bottle-fed babies are injected with zucchini, cauliflower and broccoli. When breastfeeding, they are introduced at 5-6 months. The first soup will contain only these vegetables.

From how many months can soups be given

Hot meals can be offered in the following order:

  • Vegetable soups with meat – not earlier than 7-8 months, but not later than 9 months. The growing body must receive proteins, B vitamins and minerals. Boiled meat is added to vegetables without broth.
  • After 9 months, give your baby cabbage soup, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and onions. At the same time, you can give borscht with beets and fish soup, but without fish broth.

Each dish should consist of foods familiar to the child. You can add rice or millet, vegetable oil to soups in a ratio of 1 tsp per 100 ml of liquid.

After a year, children are allowed fish broth, milk soups. Pea soup is given after 2 years, pickle with pickles not earlier than 3 years, and mushroom puree after 7 years.

Pediatricians do not recommend giving meat broth for up to a year, as it contains harmful substances from meat. This is a heavy food, so the soup is cooked in a second broth. First, the water with meat is brought to a boil, after which the water is drained, a new one is added and cooked until tender.

Some pediatricians believe that broth can be given after the introduction of meat into the diet, that is, from 8 months, but no more than 30 ml per day, and after a year – 50 ml. In order not to be mistaken in the quantity, add separately cooked meat and broth to the vegetable mixture.

Use only dietary meats such as turkey or rabbit. Don’t give your child pork or beef broth.

Is it possible for the child to seasonings, salt and frying

The less salt in the dishes, the better for the baby. First, give the baby soup without salt, if he eats, then it is not necessary to add it. In case of refusal of the soup, it can be slightly salted.

From 8 months, chopped dill and parsley can be added as a seasoning, and a month later – bay leaves. After a year, add celery and basil, and from 1,5 years – pepper. Frying is used as late as possible, not earlier than 3 years.
