Before 7 years old, a child cannot go to school on his own
Between 5 and 7 years old, the child still badly locates noises : it is not really able to link them to their source. Same thing for the development of his vision : it takes four seconds to perceive a moving car, while it only takes a quarter of a second for an adult. In addition, he still badly assesses speeds and distances, and struggles to predict a situation. Here again, his visual field is not the same as that of the adult: 70 ° against 190 ° for us. In other words: if a car or a motorcycle rolls over to the side, he will not see them.
Likewise, before the age of 7, a child does not have the capacity to take care of his street safety. But you can already teach him the good reflexes and, little by little, “let go of the ballast”. From kindergarten, he is taught to cross to the little green man and on crosswalks. This, he integrated it well, on condition of course, to have the good example ! If the child sees us constantly breaking the prohibition, he will too.
