At the National Institute of Oncology in Gliwice, patients are stuck in huge traffic jams

Since the construction of the multi-storey car park at the National Institute of Oncology in Gliwice began, huge traffic jams have formed around the hospital. Although in the near future, as many as 800 parking spaces will be waiting for patients, for now, to cover a short distance of the road, they stand in traffic jams for up to two hours.

A multi-storey car park with 800 spaces (including 32 spaces for the disabled) is to solve the problem that employees and patients of the National Institute of Oncology in Gliwice have been struggling with for a long time reported the portal Wybcza.pl. Due to the lack of parking spaces on the premises of the hospital, people who wanted to park there looked for a place even along ul. Coasts of Armii Krajowej and Sienkiewicza, which made it difficult for cars moving there.

The new car park will solve this problem, but for the time being its construction causes even more difficulties. Currently, there are several hundred meters of traffic jams there.

«More than once oncological patients they wait in cars for over 2 hours to drive several hundred meters» writes on her Facebook profile, city advisor Agnieszka Filipkowska.

The councilor also sent a letter regarding the situation at the National Institute of Oncology to the President of Gliwice, Adam Neumann.

In order to relieve traffic jams, the Municipal Road Authority in Gliwice changed the traffic organization in the area of ​​the National Oncology Institute, and warnings about obstructions at the hospital appeared on interactive boards at the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa road. Patients are also asked to travel to the facility by public transport or leave the car in the center of Gliwice. However, the situation is still very difficult.

The construction of the multi-storey car park at the National Institute of Oncology began in November 2021. Completion of works is planned for June this year.
