It takes several minutes for the surgeons of the Fedorov Eye Microsurgery Center to restore vision to patients even with congenital pathologies.
“Any surgery is a separation of tissues. With the help of laser energy, the separation takes place in a micron version. This is very important, because the less damage is, the easier the patient undergoes the operation, ”said Hristo Takhchidi, Director General of the Eye Microsurgery MNTK.
During the operation, the doctors of the center use a new generation laser. The only femtosecond laser in Russia damages the cornea of the eye by several microns, so the likelihood of complications is no more than 2%. Within a few minutes, the patient’s eyesight returns, and he can return to his usual way of life.
The new device costs $ 500000, at the moment it is only in the main center in Moscow. But in the near future this equipment should appear in 11 regional branches of the scientific and technical complex. Since February, one and a half thousand successful operations have been carried out using this technology.
Federal State Institution Interdisciplinary Scientific and Technical Complex “Eye Microsurgery” named after Fedorov was founded in 1986. Over the years, his doctors have provided ophthalmic care to nearly 15 million patients. Today, according to his data, 82% of all high-tech ophthalmological operations in the country are performed at the Fedorov Center.
