Aspar Espefa for potassium and magnesium deficiency. How to use?

Aspar Espefa is used to supplement potassium and magnesium deficiencies that do not require intravenous administration of elements (e.g. in cardiac arrhythmias, prophylactically in ischemic heart disease, in post-infarction convalescence, after infectious diseases or surgical procedures in the course of which there was a loss of magnesium and potassium, when using cardiac glycosides or diuretics in parallel).

Aspar Espefa – indications and dosage

Aspar Espefa is a recommended drug:

  1. in supplementing potassium and magnesium deficiencies that do not require the administration of elements intravenously (e.g. in heart rhythm disorders),
  2. preventive ischemic heart disease,
  3. in post-infarction convalescence,
  4. after infectious diseases or surgical procedures in the course of which magnesium and potassium were lost,
  5. during the parallel use of cardiac glycosides or diuretics.

Use of the drug

Aspar Espefa is in the form of tablets to be taken by mouth. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the drug as it may endanger your life or health.

  1. Orally, usually 2-6 tablets / day in a dose. division

Aspar Espefa and contraindications

There are the following contraindications to the use of Aspar Espefa:

  1. kidney failure
  2. atrioventricular block,
  3. myasthenia gravis,
  4. hyperkalemia,
  5. hypermagnesemia,
  6. urinary tract infections.

Aspar Espefa – warnings

  1. With long-term use of Aspar Espefa, in the case of severe diarrhea and in patients treated with cardiac glycosides, the concentration of potassium and magnesium in the blood should be monitored.
  2. It should be used with caution in patients with gastric ulcer disease.
  3. Do not give the drug without the knowledge of a cancer doctor.
  4. Before using the preparation during pregnancy or breastfeeding, a doctor should be consulted.

Aspar Espefa and other substances

  1. The absorption of magnesium decreases in the presence of phosphates, calcium, lipids and phytates.
  2. Magnesium compounds reduce the absorption of tetracyclines, iron, fluoride compounds and warfarin-derived anticoagulants.
  3. The precipitation of magnesium is intensified by: aminoglycoside antibiotics, loop diuretics, cisplatin, cycloserine, mithramycin, amphotericin B, mineralocorticosteroids.
  4. Potassium sparing diuretics and other drugs containing potassium may increase the concentration of this element in the serum.

Aspar Espefa – side effects

  1. In patients with impaired renal function, hyperkalaemia with irregular and sluggish heartbeat may rarely occur.
  2. gastrointestinal irritation (abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting).
