Aspafar Farmapol is used to supplement the deficiency of magnesium and potassium in cardiac arrhythmia and hyperactivity, prophylactically in ischemic heart disease, at the risk of a heart attack. In post-infarction convalescence, after infectious diseases or surgical procedures in the course of which magnesium and potassium have been lost, as a drug counteracting the adverse effects of long-term use of cardiac glycosides and diuretics (e.g. thiazides, furosemide).

Aspafar Farmapol – indications and dosage

Aspafar Farmapol is recommended for use:

  1. in supplementing magnesium and potassium deficiency in cardiac arrhythmias and hyperactivity,
  2. prophylactic in ischemic heart disease,
  3. at risk of a heart attack,
  4. in post-infarction convalescence,
  5. after infectious diseases or surgical procedures in the course of which magnesium and potassium were lost,
  6. as a drug counteracting the undesirable effects of long-term use of cardiac glycosides and diuretics (e.g. thiazides, furosemide).

Use of the drug

The preparation is in the form of tablets to be taken orally. Take the drug after meals.

  1. usually 1-3 tablets 2 × / day (max. 6 tablets / day).

Aspafar Farmapol and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Aspafar Farmapol are:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
  2. severe kidney failure,
  3. urinary tract infections
  4. hyperkalemia,
  5. hypermagnesemia,
  6. atrioventricular conduction disorders,
  7. bradycardia,
  8. myasthenia gravis.

Aspafar Farmapol – warnings about the drug

  1. Patients with hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-zomaltase insufficiency should not take Aspafar Farmapol.
  2. Do not use the preparation in the case of gastric ulcer.
  3. During long-term use of the drug, the levels of magnesium and potassium in the blood should be monitored.
  4. Before taking the preparation during pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult a physician.

Aspafar Farmapol and other substances

  1. The use of Aspafar Farmapol with tetracycline antibiotics, oral anticoagulants (hydroxycoumarin derivatives), drugs containing phosphates or calcium and iron compounds may lead to a mutual reduction of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract.
  2. Use of table salt (sodium chloride) in large amounts will increase the excretion of potassium.

Aspafar Farmapol – side effects

Taking Aspafar Farmapol in a dose higher than the recommended dose may cause:

  1. development of hyperkalaemia with cardiac arrhythmias (especially in patients with renal insufficiency),
  2. diarrhea
  3. nausea,
  4. vomiting,
  5. a feeling of metallic taste.
