PSYchology

Should we sympathize with those who have chosen a life without sex? Sexologist Anthony Bogaert (Anthony Bogaert) summarized the data of a number of studies and came to the conclusion that asexuality is not a disorder at all, but one of the options for sexual life.

His other conclusions1:

  • 1% of people on Earth are asexual. It’s about those who, in their words, «never experienced sexual desire for anyone.»
  • Asexuals are not bothered by the lack of sex in their lives. What really worries them is the misunderstanding on the part of other people and the desire of others to «help».
  • Asexuals are not impotent. They can have sex and have children, but the process itself does not attract them at all.
  • Asexuality is perhaps one type of sexual orientation. But this does not mean that asexuals are alien to love and emotional attachment.
