December 2, 2021 the second episode of the podcast “Health in conversation” was released, created under the auspices of The AI Coalition in Health and the Polish Federation of Hospitals. The podcast series is available on the most popular streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple, Google+ and YouTube. The main partner of the series “innovations closer to the patient” is PZU Zdrowie, and media partners are Medonet, Rynek Zdrowia i Cowzdrowiu.

PZU Zdrowie is one of the largest medical networks in Poland, with 130 own medical centers and 2200 partner facilities. In its imaging diagnostics network, it has implemented a pilot program for the diagnosis of stroke in computed tomography, the model of which was developed by the BrainScan company.

First of all, we pay attention to the patient’s needs and how an innovative solution can help him. We also have innovations that we try to implement in operational areas, striving to optimize processes within the company, because we are a company operating commercially. The common denominator of the solutions we investigate is, however, that they must respond to the real needs of the company’s units. We do not want to implement innovation for the sake of the name that it is innovation. We make sure that the solutions are potentially scalable in the network of our branches and that they respond to specific challenges faced by PZU Zdrowie. – points in the podcast Andrzej Browarski, Director of the Analysis and Innovation Office.

brainscan is an innovative startup that uses AI algorithms for imaging diagnostics. Based on the analysis of hundreds of thousands of imaging examinations of the brain, he has developed a certified system that helps radiologists interpret examinations faster and more confidently through the use of machine learning.

We analyze tomographic scans of the brain. The system we have developed allows for the automatic detection of pathologies visible in computed tomography and an indication of where it is located. At the moment, we detect 14 out of 26 pathologies, filling all pathologies commonly found in computed tomography. The system is based on artificial intelligence algorithms trained on hundreds of thousands of tests. It does it with precision and accuracy that is tested at PZU Zdrowie – he says in the podcast Szymon Korzekwa, CEO of Brainscan.
